The present invention provides an access method and system of a customer premise equipment, and a broadband network gateway. The access method of a customer premise equipment includes: receiving, by a BNG in a BNG pool, an access request packet sent by a CPE, where the access request packet carries an identifier of a CPE group to which the CPE belongs; and obtaining, by the BNG, an access policy of the CPE group according to the identifier of the CPE group, and performing access control on the CPE according to the access policy. Through the present invention, a BNG in a BNG pool is enabled to provide an access service for a CPE according to an access policy, so that when a BNG in a BNG pool is faulty, a BNG that is not faulty in the BNG pool can provide an access service for a CPE originally accessing the faulty BNG, thereby improving the reliability of the entire network.

Orchestrating mobile data networks in a network environment

A method is provided in one example and includes receiving a request for a service from a requestor, an determining at least a first network element and at least a second network element required to satisfy the request from among a plurality of network elements. The method further includes triggering a coordinating of a work flow between the first network element and the second network element responsive to the request. The method still further includes translating communication messages exchanged between the first network element and the second network element from a first communication protocol format and a second communication protocol format.

MAPPING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) ADDRESSES TO IP OVER ETHERNET SUBSCRIBER IDENTIFIERS

In some implementations, a network device may receive one or more indications of one or more internet protocol (IP) addresses. The network device may determine that the one or more IP addresses are associated with an IP over Ethernet (IPoE) subscriber. The network device may generate, based at least in part on determining that the one or more IP addresses are associated with the IPoE subscriber, a mapping of the one or more IP addresses to an identifier of the IPoE subscriber. The network device may receive a network packet associated with at least one IP address of the one or more IP addresses. The network device may perform, based at least in part on the mapping of the one or more IP addresses to the identifier of the IPoE subscriber, a network service associated with the network packet on a per-IPoE-subscriber basis.

Method and system for handling subscribers' network traffic

A method for handling subscribers' network traffic between a CPE (customer premises equipment) and a broadband access network includes establishing a subscriber session between the CPE and a BNG (broadband network gateway, an entity within the broadband access network), to set up a network route between the CPE and the BNG. Data transmitted within the subscriber session are encapsulated into protocol frames. A NCE (network control entity) acquires a state of the subscriber session and updates network policies in at least one network entity on the network route based on the state of the subscriber session. A DEM (dynamic encapsulation module) decides, based on a DEM configuration, whether data sent to the broadband access network are encapsulated data within the subscriber session or are non-encapsulated data outside the subscriber session. The data are transmitted on a part of the network route and are handled according to the network policies.

Providing multiple levels of service for wireless communication

Local breakout is provided by one or more nodes (e.g., a local access point and/or a local gateway) in a wireless network to facilitate access to one or more local services. In conjunction with local breakout, multiple IP points of presence relating to different levels of service may be provided for an access point. For example, one point of presence may relate to a local service while another point of presence may relate to a core network service.

Policy control function fallback

Systems, methods, and devices can be utilized for policy control function (PCF) fallback during the set up of a session utilizing a 5th Generation (5G) core network. An example method includes receiving, from a session management function (SMF), a request for a policy corresponding to a session. The request includes a first policy identifier corresponding to a first policy control function (PCF). The example method further includes determining that the first PCF is unavailable, generating a modified request by replacing the first policy identifier with a second policy identifier in the request. The second policy identifier corresponds to a second PCF. The example method also includes transmitting, to the second PCF, the modified second request.

Auto-configuration of demarcation devices in ethernet passive optical network

Systems, devices and techniques for automatically configuring a Demarcation device in a communication network based on DOCSIS provisioning over EPON. A method can be implemented to include initializing a Demarcation device and an optical network unit device (ONU) that is connected to the Demarcation device; operating the Demarcation device to establish a communication with the ONU and to obtain configuration information of the ONU; operating the Demarcation device to communicate to a back-office system in the network regarding information of the Demarcation device, the information including capabilities associated with the Demarcation device; operating the back-office system to generate a service configuration file and to send the generated service configuration file to the Demarcation device; and operating the Demarcation device to process the service configuration file from the back-office system and to update communication services provided by the ONU based on the service configuration file from the back-office system.

System and method for providing multicast delivery in a network environment

A method is provided in one example and includes receiving signaling data associated with a request for a multicast channel, the request includes an Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6) source and an IPv6 group address. The method may also include identifying an Internet protocol version 4 (IPv4) source and an IPv4 group address to be mapped to the IPv6 source and the IPv6 group address. The signaling data can be converted from a first protocol to a second protocol. The converted signaling data can be communicated to a network element. In more particular embodiments, the network element is an IP edge router configured to join the multicast channel and stream data in response to receiving the converted signaling data. The IP edge router can be configured to perform an encapsulation operation to transport IPv6 multicast packets within an IPv4 multicast channel.

Managing network services utilizing service groups

A network service incorporating service groups to increase fault tolerance and data isolation for integrated network services and client data is provided. The network service provider can process network requests utilizing individual service groups that correspond to a set of integrated services and client data (e.g., cells). The service groups can be associated according to customer identifier. Computing resources within a service group are isolated from computing resources utilized in other service groups and resources that host/provide the service or the integrated data can be independently scaled by the service provider.
