METHODS FOR EVALUATING THE INTEGRITY OF A UTERINE CAVITY

Methods, systems and devices for evaluating the integrity of a uterine cavity. A method comprises introducing transcervically a probe into a patient's uterine cavity, providing a flow of a fluid (e.g., CO.sub.2) through the probe into the uterine cavity and monitoring the rate of the flow to characterize the uterine cavity as perforated or non-perforated based on a change in the flow rate.

SOFT PALATE TREATMENT

A method of treating a soft palate in a patient may involve advancing a tissue treatment portion of a soft palate treatment device through the patient's mouth, contacting a treatment surface of the tissue treatment portion with mucosal tissue of the soft palate, and delivering energy from the tissue treatment portion through the mucosal tissue to a target tissue in the soft palate beneath to the mucosal tissue, to change at least one property of the target tissue. The method may further involve cooling the mucosal tissue with a cooling member on the treatment surface of the tissue treatment portion and removing the tissue treatment portion from the mouth.

METHODS AND DEVICES TO TREAT NASAL AIRWAYS

Methods and devices for treating nasal airways are provided. Such devices and methods may improve airflow through an internal and/or external nasal valve, and comprise the use of mechanical re-shaping, energy application and other treatments to modify the shape, structure, and/or air flow characteristics of an internal nasal valve, an external nasal valve or other nasal airways.

TISSUE EXTRACTION DEVICES AND METHODS

A tissue resection device comprises inner and outer coaxial sleeves. The outer sleeve has a cutting window formed therein, and the inner sleeve has a distal cutting end that can be reciprocated past the cutting window. The sleeves comprise electrodes to provide electrosurgical cutting, and an edge portion of the window includes a dielectric material.

GUIDEWIRE WITH ABLATION AND COAGULATION FUNCTIONALITY

Apparatus, including a guidewire, having a distal end dimensioned to penetrate into a nasal sinus and a balloon, which is fitted over the guidewire in proximity to the distal end. There is an inflation channel, which runs along the guidewire and is coupled to convey a pressurized fluid into the balloon so as to inflate the balloon. The apparatus also includes a first electrode, fixedly attached to a distal tip of the guidewire, and a second electrode, fixedly attached to the guidewire at a location proximal to the distal tip. There are conductive leads running along the guidewire and coupled to apply an electrical potential between the first and second electrodes.

Surgical instruments and methods for performing tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, and other surgical procedures

A surgical instrument includes a housing, a shaft extending therefrom, an end effector assembly supported by the shaft, a movable handle, and a drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a translatable drive member for actuating the end effector assembly, and a torsion spring including first and second legs. The first leg is configured to translate through the housing in response to movement of the movable handle relative to the housing. The second leg is configured to translate through the housing in cooperation with the first leg to move the drive member longitudinally when a force acting on the drive member is less than a threshold force, and to remain in fixed position, thereby tensioning the torsion spring and retaining the drive member in fixed position when the force acting on the drive member is equal to or exceeds the threshold force.

Robotic uterine manipulators with rollable sleeves

A uterine manipulator includes an elongated shaft, a colpotomy cup supported on the elongated shaft, a distal shaft extending distally from the colpotomy cup to a distal tip, and a rollable sleeve supported on the distal tip.

MAXILLARY SINUS PUNCTURE APPARATUS

The present invention relates to an apparatus for puncturing a maxillary sinus, the apparatus including: a main body gripped by an operator; a probing unit detachable from the main body and configured to detect a posterior fontanelle; a surgical procedure tube which is provided in the main body and formed of an endoscope unit configured to monitor the posterior fontanelle, a puncturing unit configured to puncture the posterior fontanelle, and an irrigation tube configured to irrigate the maxillary sinus through a punctured portion of the posterior fontanelle; and an operation unit provided in the main body and configured to operate the surgical procedure tube.

Electrosurgical probe and kit and method of using

Electrosurgical probes for treating tissue, and surgical procedures that make use of such probes. Such a probe includes a working element having a core member, a sheath secured to the working element, and a conductor disposed in a first internal longitudinal channel of the core member and having an active electrode coupled thereto. The sheath has a passage in which the core member is disposed, and the passage has an opening at a distal end of the sheath. The conductor is reciprocable within the sheath and adapted to carry a radio frequency current to and from the active electrode, which extends from the opening at the distal end of the sheath. An irrigation channel is defined by a second internal longitudinal channel of the core member. The electrosurgical probe is marked as disposable and not for reuse in a medical procedure performed on more than one patient.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR TREATING HEARING LOSS

Systems and methods can be employed for trans-tympanic membrane access to the middle ear for delivery of a therapeutic agent, for example, to the round window niche adjacent to the cochlea under direct visualization. The systems and methods can also be used to improve accessibility and visualization for various otological surgical procedures, such as, but not limited to, cholesteatoma removal, tympanic membrane repair and ossicular chain repair.
