An image reading device and an image forming apparatus. The image reading device includes an image reader to read an image of a document, and a color reference component arranged to face the image reader. In the image reading device, the image reader reads the color reference component at a prescribed timing to obtain color reference image data, and correction data generating processes are executed based on the obtained color reference image data to generate correction data used to correct data of the image read by the image reader. In the image reading device, wherein the color reference component is moved relative to the image reader in a direction orthogonal to a direction toward and away from the image reader. The image forming apparatus includes the image reading device, and an image is formed on a recording material based on data of the image read by the image reading device.

The disclosure relates to a method for printing a paper web with at least one print motif by means of a digital printing facility. The method includes: providing a digital image of a master sample of the print motif, printing a plurality of copies of a section of the at least one print motif with different color settings, creating digital images of the printed copies, comparing the digital images of the printed copies with the digital image of the master sample, where a degree of similarity is determined in each case, selecting color settings using the determined degrees of similarity and printing the print motif onto the paper web with the selected color settings.

An image forming apparatus performs the following. An imaging range imaged by each of the plurality of imaging sensors includes an overlapping portion between the imaging sensors adjacent in a width direction orthogonal to a conveying direction along the conveying path. A hardware processor performs a calibration operation of a first sensor based on a color measuring result of a predetermined inspection image measured within a standard imaging range of the first sensor among the plurality of imaging sensors, and a standard imaging result within the standard imaging range imaging an inspection image with a same pattern as the inspection image. The hardware processor compares imaging results by the plurality of imaging sensors in the overlapping portions and performs the calibration operation of another sensor different from the first sensor using the standard imaging result as a standard.

In the image forming device, a printing data generator (control section) performs: acquiring a detection criterion to detect a post-processing image for use at the post-processing stage; creating a color correction image to be used for color correction of an original image according to the detection criterion; and arranging the color correction image as an outer area image in an area other than an original image formation area in printing data.

A printing apparatus includes a printing unit configured to move in a scanning direction, a color measuring unit configured to move in the scanning direction with the printing unit and perform colorimetry on patches, and a control unit configured to execute a scanning operation of moving the color measuring unit to pass the color measuring unit over the patches and thus cause the color measuring unit to read a wavelength of reflected light of the patches. The color measuring unit is configured to read light corresponding to a wavelength region selected from within a wavelength region of light divided into a plurality of wavelength regions. The control unit is configured to cause the color measuring unit to read, in one scanning operation, light corresponding to a portion of the plurality of wavelength regions of light to be read, perform a plurality of the scanning operations while changing the wavelength region of light to be read by the color measuring unit, and thus complete colorimetry of the patches.

Provided is a measurement device including a spectroscope, a movement mechanism configured to relatively move the spectroscope along a first direction with respect to the measurement target, and one or more processors configured to execute detecting a measurement error indicating that spectroscopic measurement processing by the spectroscope is not executed normally, and controlling the spectroscope and the movement mechanism, in which the one or more processors, when the measurement target is a plurality of color patches arranged along the first direction, cause the spectroscope to execute first measurement processing of measuring light with a specific wavelength set in advance while relatively moving the spectroscope in the first direction to acquire a measured value with respect to the specific wavelength obtained by the first measurement processing and a position of the spectroscope, and when the measurement error is detected, move the spectroscope to a position where an amount of variation of the measured value is greater than or equal to a threshold value in a second direction opposite to the first direction and then move the spectroscope in the first direction.

An information processing apparatus for managing a printing apparatus in a print site including at least one printing apparatus includes a memory that stores a set of instructions, and at least one processor that executes the instruction to determine a custom color that is used in a color verification operation of the at least one printing apparatus, obtain an input profile of a color verification setting of the determined custom color, display a screen for selecting whether or not to add a standard color corresponding to the obtained input profile to the color verification operation, and according to having received an instruction, via the screen, for adding the standard color to the color verification operation, instruct the at least one printing apparatus to perform printing in accordance with the color verification setting, including the input profile, for the custom color and the standard color.

A method of generating an image on a transparent or semitransparent substrate, the method comprising analyzing a first image to be printed on a first side of the substrate to identify a region associated with a predominant color, printing, on the first side of the substrate a color patch with the identified predominant color, printing, on a second side of the substrate, a test color pattern overlapping with the color patch on the first side of the substrate, determining, in a transmission geometry, a color distribution in the color patch, and generating from the determined color distribution, for the region associated with the predominant color identified in the first image, a transmission mode color profile for printing on the second side of the substrate.

The reproduction of a target color is appropriately performed with high accuracy. A printing system 10 includes a printing device 12 and a host PC 14 that is a control device. The printing device 12 includes a plurality of inkjet heads 202y to 202k and a colorimeter 204. The host PC 14 is capable of performing a color matching process for matching a color printed by the inkjet heads 202y to 202k with a target color, and performs, in the color matching process, a target color acquiring process for acquiring the target color using the colorimeter 204, an initial value setting process for setting an initial value of a color setting value, and a target color corresponding value determination process for selecting a patch having a color close to a target color from among a plurality of patches by causing the inkjet heads 202y to 202k to print the patches.
