Device, system, and method for imaging and tissue characterization of ablated tissue
Disclosed herein is a system for ablating and characterizing tissue. The system comprises an ablation element configured to emit ablative energy toward a tissue of interest, an imaging apparatus configured to emit energy and collect imaging data including reflected signals from the tissue of interest, and a characterization application. The characterization application comprises a signal analyzer for analyzing the imaging data and determining one or more signal properties from the reflected signals, and a correlation processor configured to associate the one or more signal properties to pre-determined tissue signal properties of different tissue components through a pattern recognition technique. The pre-determined tissue signal properties are embodied in a database, and the correlation processor is configured to identify a tissue component and an ablation level of the tissue of interest based on the pattern recognition technique.
Coiled dipole antenna
An antenna system comprises a transmission member and an antenna at a distal end of the transmission member. The antenna includes a first conductive arm, an insulator extending around the first conductive arm, and a second conductive arm wound around at least a first portion of the insulator to form a second conductive arm coil. A property of the insulator varies along an insulator longitudinal axis of the insulator. The insulator includes a set of formed patterns along at least a portion of the insulator longitudinal axis.
Excisional devices and methods
A platform device for material excision or removal from vascular structures for either handheld or stereotactic table or robotics platform use may comprise a work element or elements configured to selectively open and close at least one articulable beak or scoopula configured to penetrate and remove intra-vascular materials or obstructions, or follow a central lumen of another device or over a wire in a longitudinal direction. Flush and vacuum tissue transport mechanisms may be incorporated as well as single or multiple arrays of image guidance elements, directional elements, ablation elements and other interventional assistance elements. A single tube or an inner sheath and an outer sheath which may be co-axially disposed relative to a work element may be configured to actuate a beak or beaks or scoopulas and provisions for simultaneous or differential beak or scoopula closing under their differential rotation may be incorporated.
METHOD OF QUANTITATIVE ANALYSIS AND IMAGING OF THE ANTERIOR SEGMENT OF THE EYE
What is provided are methods of analyzing at least one image of the anterior segment of an eye and for selecting an intraocular lens (IOL). The methods may include detecting at least one image from an anterior segment of the eye; identifying a location of a reference structure on the eye using a plurality of points of a landmark on the anterior segment of the eye; and calculating at least one quantitative dimension of the anterior segment of the eye using the reference structure. The newly identified landmarks and quantifiable dimensions improve the characterization of the anterior segment in order to better predict the position and movement of the intraocular lens. The improved methods for analyzing the imaging of the anterior segment of the eye allows for improvements in the refractive outcomes of cataract surgery, glaucoma procedures, refractive outcomes, and other eye-related diseases.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF REGISTRATION FOR IMAGE-GUIDED PROCEDURES
Systems and methods for supporting image-guided procedures include an elongate device including a steerable distal end and a shape sensor located along a length of the elongate device and one or more processors coupled to the elongate device. While the elongate device is being traversed through one or more passageways of a patient, the one or more processors are configured to detect a data collection event, and capture, in response to detecting the data collection event, a plurality of points along the length of the elongate device using the shape sensor. In some embodiments, an insertion depth of the elongate device is monitored. In some embodiments, the data collection event is detected when the insertion depth is beyond a threshold insertion depth, no change of the insertion depth is detected for longer than a threshold period of time, or the insertion depth is beyond a threshold retraction distance.
METHOD FOR OPERATING SURGICAL INSTRUMENT SYSTEMS
A method for adjusting the operation of a surgical instrument using machine learning in a surgical suite is disclosed.
Multi-functional handheld optical coherence tomography imaging system
An OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) handheld device is provided comprising: a housing configured for handheld OCT scanning during a surgical procedure, the housing comprising an OCT scanning end and a proximal end opposite the OCT scanning end; an OCT scanning device inside the housing, the OCT scanning device configured for one or more of OCT polarized scanning and Doppler OCT scanning from the OCT scanning end, the OCT scanning device further configured to receive and convey OCT light between the proximal end and an OCT analysing system; and a tip extending from the OCT scanning end, the tip being removably attached to the OCT scanning end, the tip configured to receive and collect the OCT light therethrough. The OCT handheld device is configured to be removably draped around the tip, for use in the surgical procedure.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MONITORING PATIENT MOVEMENT
Systems and methods for monitoring patient movement are provided. A first dataset containing information about a first tracking device and a second tracking device may be received. A second dataset containing information about the first tracking device and the second tracking device may be received. The first dataset and the second dataset may be compared to determine if a relative pose of the first tracking device and the second tracking device has changed. A notification may be generated when the relative pose of the first tracking device and the second tracking device has changed.
TRACKING SOFT TISSUE CHANGES INTRAOPERATIVELY
Systems and methods for detecting motion of soft tissue are provided. An illustrative method is described to include attaching a flexible material to an object, where the flexible material includes one or more tracking markers distributed thereon and where the object includes soft tissue. The method is also disclosed to include obtaining a first image of the object that includes the one or more tracking markers in a first position, obtaining a second image of the object that includes the one or more tracking markers in a second position, and determining a motion of the soft tissue based on a comparison of the one or more tracking markers in the first position with the one or more tracking markers in the second position.
