Clamping element and component connection having a clamping element

A component connection has a first component, from which a fixing element protrudes, and a clamping element, which in a tightened rotating position is directly supported relative to the first component directly by way of the fixing element or is indirectly supported relative to the first component by way of a further component. The clamping element has a recess into which the fixing element protrudes from a lower side of the clamping element, wherein a seat portion of the recess is designed in the form of an ascending spiral staircase or thread and at least one free end of the fixing element reaches behind this seat portion in an interlocking manner, such that the at least one free end is seated on the seat portion and when the clamping element is in the tightened rotating position, presses against the seat portion.

Selectively attachable garment-to-appendage interface

A selectively attachable garment-to-appendage interface including a seal having a first portion to a garment and a second portion coupled to an appendage such as a glove, a hood or footwear. The first portion includes one of a projection or a groove. The second portion includes the other of the projection or a groove. A fastening device has a first fastening member with a plurality of teeth and a second fastening member with a plurality of sockets which are sequentially engagable in tooth and socket pairs in an engagement direction by relative rotation of the tooth and socket. Each tooth has a first surface and a second surface fixed relative to the first surface. Each socket has a recess defined by a first wall and second wall fixed relative to the first wall. Upon engagement, the first and second surfaces of the tooth abut the respective first and second walls of the recess and prevent relative movement of the tooth in the engagement direction and a portion of the first wall of the socket closely abutting the first surface of the tooth is disposed between the tooth and a portion of the first fastening member and prevents relative separation of the tooth and socket.

RETAINER ASSEMBLY HAVING A ROTATABLE, RELEASABLE SNAP BUTTON ENGAGEMENT
20190134435 · 2019-05-09 ·

An assembly is disclosed, the assembly for providing release structure to a lanyard or strap adapted to be worn on the body, such as a neck strap. The release structure consists of a snap button assembly configured such that the release pull generated by tension in the strap is directed along an axis perpendicular to the closure and rotation plane of the male and female portion of the snap button assemblies. With structure to configure a release pull in such an axis, a safety feature is provided to the wearer such that tension in the strap, when it reaches a sufficient force to overcome the closure forces of the snap button assembly, will release the closed snap button and allow the strap to fall away from the body. Also, as in the case of a firefighter wearing an SCBA fire mask, it prevents the firefighter from being entangled or tethered if the strap were to get accidentally hooked or caught on something. The breakaway will allow the firefighter to continue using the mask with no interruption of breathing air from the mask. In lanyards and tool holders, those fall away from the body. In the case of a firefighter, the mask does not fall away from the body.

A reusable protective cover for a male portion of a snap fastener may be configured with a symmetrical convexly-curved continuous upper surface extending from the surface to which the male portion of the snap fastener is attached, to above the male portion of the snap faster, the upper surface having an area that is large in size relative to the size of the male portion of the snap fastener and shaped so that the force of someone stepping on the cover would be spread out over a much larger area than the area presented by the male portion of the snap fastener, thus greatly reducing the pressure on the bare foot of someone stepping on the cover, while also protecting the male portion of the snap fastener. Structure is provided to prevent water entrapment under the cover.

An interlocking magnetic snap fastener of simplified construction for use with garments is provided. The magnet fastener includes two mating magnetically attracting elements of minimal thickness. The first element includes a central opening having a magnet or ferromagnetic disk recessed in the opening, creating recess for engagement with an opposing magnet protruding from the second element. Engagement through the recess prevents lateral movement between, and disengagement of, the first and second elements. The fastener is constructed such that, when placed in close proximity to the recess of the first element, the magnet in the second element is induced to slide sideways, enter the recess of the first element, and assume automatically-aligned contact with its magnetic counterpart.
