PROSTHETIC LIMB SOCKETS AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING
A prosthetic socket includes a conical cup, an outer layer on the outer surface of the conical cup, and a reinforcement layer on the inner surface of the conical cup. The prosthetic socket is shapeable after being heated to a shaping temperature. The outer layer is less malleable than the conical cup at the shaping temperature, but has a higher rigidity than the conical cup at the shaping temperature and has smoother outer surface than an outer surface of the conical cup. The reinforcement layer has a higher resistance against circumferential stress than the conical cup. A residual limb or a model of a residual limb can be inserted into the preformed prosthetic socket. The prosthetic socket is then heated to the shaping temperature and molded to conform to the contour of the residual limb or the model to form a prosthetic socket.
LINER FOR A TRANSRADIAL PROSTHESIS AND METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF
A liner and a method for producing a liner for a lower arm prosthesis, wherein the liner comprises a base body with a closed distal end and an open proximal end, and the method comprises the production of the base body by moulding a preform, in particular using a casting or dipping method, wherein in at least one section of the preform a first diameter of the blank is greater than a second diameter in a second direction, which extends orthogonally to the first direction.
Prosthesis casting device
A prosthesis socket casting device having a housing and a flexible membrane for receiving a residual limb, the housing and the membrane defining a cavity for containing a fluid. Within the housing are means that are a function of the patient's weight for altering the distribution of the reactive fluid pressure applied when the residual limb is received within the membrane. In a preferred embodiment, the altering means comprise a movable piston that is provided at a lower end of the housing.
THREE DIMENSIONAL PRINT METHOD AND PART
A prosthetic socket for a prosthetic limb is provided. The prosthetic socket comprises a socket body and a first and second structural members. The socket body comprises a distal end and a top edge opposite the distal end. The distal end comprises a prosthetic component attachment mechanism. The top edge comprises a medial fin, a lateral fin, a posterior edge and an anterior edge. The first and second structural members each include a first straight portion, a second straight portion, and a first arch portion. The first structural member is disposed on a medial exterior surface of the socket body and the second structural member is disposed on an lateral exterior surface of the socket body.
Method for designing and producing a customized device, the shape of which is adapted to the user's morphology
A method for manufacturing a customized apparatus with a shape adapted to a specific user's morphology, or a mold for such an apparatus, includes obtaining a description of a generic apparatus, or of the mold for such an apparatus, the generic apparatus being adapted to a generic morphology. A description of the generic morphology and a description of the specific user's morphology is obtained. The descriptions of the generic morphology and of the specific user's morphology are processed to identify a geometric transformation mapping together the generic morphology and the specific user's morphology. The geometric transformation is applied to the description of the generic apparatus, or the description of the mold for such apparatus, in order to define the description of the customized apparatus or the mold therefor. The customized apparatus is then manufactured.
HAND ORTHOSIS, MODULE MEMBER FOR USING IN A HAND ORTHOSIS, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HAND ORTHOSIS
A hand orthosis for bending and/or stretching at least one finger of a patient's hand, comprising a force-introducing device fastened to a splint, which is coupled with at least one finger segment paired with the finger of the patient's hand, wherein the at least one finger segment comprises a plurality of modular members interconnected in an articulated manner. The modular members each have at least one bayonet link on a first front side and at least one bayonet hook, corresponding to the bayonet link, on a second front side for the formation of a bayonet connection between adjacent modular members providing a bayonet joint. In addition, the invention relates to a modular member for using in a hand orthosis and a method of producing a hand orthosis.
Methods for bone stabilization
A compression stabilized prosthetic device for a patient having an amputated limb includes a first socket portion for contacting a patient's limb, and a second portion for the attachment of a prosthetic component. The first socket portion has compression portions configured for compressing portions of the patient's limb, and relief portions for receiving other portions of the patient's limb which bulge upon the compression applied by the compression portions. The relief portions may be formed as openings or as enlarged radius portions of the first socket portion.
Method for producing a negative cast for a brace with corrective forces to control PLC deficiencies
A casting method for a brace having corrective forces is disclosed. The foot is externally rotated during casting and corrective forces are applied at the lateral knee and anteromedial ankle. With the knee flexed at between about 70 to 90, the cast is fully extended, which places the knee in a position which will reduce the pressures on the medial knee. This is the position desired during the casting process with the knee flexed and then held while extending the knee. The result is control of the posterior lateral rotation, therefore controlling the posterior subluxation of the tibial plateau to achieve the motion and alignment that the screw home motion produces.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING A BREAST PROSTHESIS
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a breast prosthesis, in which a first dispersion of a first granular material is introduced into a cross-linkable silicone compound. The silicone compound subsequently is cured in order to form a prosthesis body, wherein the prosthesis body is heated to a shrinking temperature which lies above the melting point of the thermoplastic material.
External breast prosthesis
Disclosed is an external breast prosthesis (1), including an envelope (2) of flexible material with a breast shape, the envelope defining an internal cavity (6) closed by a protective lid (3) of which one face, called the external face (4), is designed to be pressed against the chest of a person, the cavity enclosing a filler and a weighted element intended to adjust the weight of the prosthesis. The weighted element is in the form of a plurality of ballast elements (7) which are distributed along a sagittal axis of the prosthesis substantially perpendicular to the plane of the protective lid.
