A user equipment (UE) may indicate, to a base station, a capability of the UE to use a channel measurement resource for both a joint transmission hypothesis and a single transmission hypothesis. The UE may receive, based on indicating the capability of the UE, a configuration message indicating a first channel measurement resource that is associated with a first transmission configuration indicator state and that is configured for a first joint transmission hypothesis. The UE may obtain a channel measurement for both the first joint transmission hypothesis and a first single transmission hypothesis using the first channel measurement resource based on the configuration message.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FAST BEAM TRACKING IN A HIGH FREQUENCY WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Methods and apparatuses are disclosed for performing fast beam switching in a high-frequency wireless communication environment. Higher frequencies reduce transmission wavelength, which allows for an increased number of antennas and an increased number of beams. Therefore, beams become narrower and are more prone to failure. The UE must be capable of quickly identifying the beam failure and switching to a new beam. Therefore, the UE is capable of receiving multiple beams from the base station and configures both for testing and immediate use. In some cases, the UE can receive multiple beams for testing and assumes a default beam while feeding back to the base station a preferred beam. To support the larger number of available beams, MAC-CE and DCI are modified to identify this increased number of states. Alternatively, two MAC-CEs are sent, each containing a different group of states, and the DCI identifies both the group and the selected state.

A channel measurement method and a communication apparatus are provided. The method includes: generating channel information, where the channel information indicates one or more receive beam vectors and one or more weighting coefficients, each of the one or more weighting coefficients corresponds to one receive beam vector, the one or more receive beam vectors and the one or more weighting coefficients corresponding to the one or more receive beam vectors are used to determine a channel of at least one frequency domain unit between a terminal device and a network device, the one or more receive beam vectors are selected from a receive beam vector set, and the receive beam vector set is determined based on a predefined base vector set; and sending the channel information.

A method for transmitting a truncated beam failure recovery (BFR) medium access control (MAC) control element (CE) by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method comprises steps of generating a truncated BFR MAC CE while not exceeding an available grant size upon detecting beam failures on a plurality of serving cells; and transmitting the truncated BFR MAC CE to the network, wherein generating the BFR MAC CE comprises: based on beam failure being detected on a special cell (SpCell) among the plurality of serving cells, including BFR information for SpCell among the plurality of serving cells into the truncated beam failure MAC CE firstly; and based on beam failure being detected on at least one SCell among the plurality of serving cells, including first BFR information for each of the at least one secondary cell (SCell) into the truncated beam failure MAC CE in ascending order of a serving cell index, and including second BFR information for each of the at least one SCell into the truncated beam failure MAC CE in ascending order of the serving cell index.

A first cellular base station transmits a configuration message to a reporting device installed on a high-speed vehicle. The configuration message specifies one or more parameters of a Doppler measurement report. The reporting device performs one or more first Doppler measurements on the first base station and/or one or more second Doppler measurements on a second base station. The reporting device transmits the Doppler measurement report to the first and/or second base stations.
