PROSTHETIC LIMB SOCKET
A prosthetic limb socket comprises a rigid support member comprising a distal base portion and a plurality of support portions extending proximally from the base portion, a plurality of adjustable panels disposed between the support portions of the support member and cords for adjusting a radial position of the panels relative to the support portions. The cords may be manually tightened or tightened by means of a motor. Sensors are deployed to provide for automatic adjustment of the position of the panels relative to the support portions.
Methods, apparatuses and systems for amputee gait capacity assessment
The present invention includes two embodiments of a tethered ankle-foot prosthesis, one with a single toe to provide plantarflexion and with two independently-actuated toes that are coordinated to provide plantarflexion and inversion-eversion torques. An end-effector was designed which is worn by a subject, and which was integrated with existing off-board motor and control hardware, to facilitate high bandwidth torque control. The platform is suitable for haptic rendering of virtual devices in experiments with humans, which may reveal strategies for improving balance or allow controlled comparisons of conventional prosthesis features. A similar morphology is also effective for autonomous devices.
Adaptable socket system, method, and kit
An adjustable socket system, method, and kit for use with prosthetic devices or orthotic, orthopedic, or exoskeletal support devices that includes a paddle and a compressing device coupled to the paddle. The paddle is chosen from a plurality of paddles of different shapes in such a way that the paddle inner surface is substantially coextensive with a soft tissue area overlying skeletal structures. The compressing device presses the paddle against the soft tissue area in order to minimize the motion of the paddle relative to the underlying skeletal structures without causing discomfort to the user or compressing areas not in contact with the paddle, allowing compressed tissue to flow into uncompressed areas. The system, method, and kit can include an external tool, sensors, actuators, and controllers, to assist fitting and for adjustment after fitting. A stabilizer can be added to resist the bending force on the paddle.
HYPERSPECTRAL TECHNOLOGY FOR ASSESSING AND TREATING DIABETIC FOOT AND TISSUE DISEASE
This invention relates generally to an index map comprising both pressure and perfusion information from a diabetic patient foot for the purpose of treatment. The index map may also be a map of perfusion and/or metabolism of the tissue (reflecting oxygen delivery and oxygen extraction, obtained by thermal imaging, hyperspectral imaging, or duplex ultrasound, MRA, CT or laser Doppler imaging. This information aids treatment in prevention of diabetic foot ulceration and amputation and in treatment of tissue compromise to prevent tissue loss in other body regions.
Adaptable socket system, method, and kit
An adjustable prosthetic device and a fitting tool for positing the prosthetic device on a limb are described. The prosthetic device comprises two or more adjustable paddles that are movably coupled with an adapter via connectors. The connectors allow the paddles to be repositioned relative to a user's limb. The paddles are sized and dimensioned to capture lost motion between the limb and the prosthetic device through skeletal compression and tissue displacement. The fitting tool comprises two or more compression bars that removably couple with the two or more paddles of the prosthetic device. The fitting tool also comprises two or more linear actuators that control the positions of the compression bars and the paddles relative to the limb.

ADAPTABLE SOCKET SYSTEM, METHOD, AND KIT
A method of engaging a limb with an interface using an external tool is described. The method includes the steps of: (i) removably attaching one or more actuators of the external tool to one or more paddles of the interface; (ii) operating the actuators to adjust a position of the paddles inward or outward relative to a longitudinal axis of the interface; and (iii) selecting a compression force for each of the paddles so as to compress target areas of soft tissue in the limb against skeletal structure to reduce motion of the skeletal structure towards an inner surface of the paddles.
