PROSTHETIC LINER
A prosthetic liner includes a flexible elongate, generally conical body portion formed from an elastomeric material. The body portion defines an inner surface, an outer surface forming a liner profile between a distal end and a proximal end, and an axis extending between the distal and proximal ends. At least one seal element extends circumferentially about the axis and protrudes radially outward a distance from the liner profile. The at least one seal element has a seal height defined between the liner profile and a radially outward end of the at least one seal element. The seal height varies circumferentially about the axis between a first seal height and a second seal height.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING A PROSTHETIC LINER AND SYSTEM CONSISTING OF PROSTHETIC LINER AND PROSTHETIC SOCKET
The invention relates to a method for producing a prosthetic liner for insertion into a prosthetic socket, which comprises a receptacle having a distal end and a proximal edge for a residual limb and the prosthetic liner. Said The method comprises determining a sealing lip contour on the outer face of the prosthetic liner which corresponds to a height contour of the proximal edge of the prosthetic socket, or on the basis of available, known anatomic characteristics of the residual limb and arranging a sealing lipon the outer face of the prosthetic liner along the determined sealing lip contour.
Prosthetic Liner Apparatus for Improved Suspension
Prosthetic liner apparatus for improving suspension and rotation control between a residual limb and a socket of a prosthesis include a liner body having a shape configured to receive the residual limb and having an outer surface that fits within the socket. The liner body may have a plurality of raised elastomeric grips located on its outer surface and a proximal end of the outer surface of the liner body includes at least an exposed smooth elastomeric region that fits within and seals with the socket. Further disclosed is a prosthetic sock having raised elastomeric grips on its inner and outer surfaces which is for use with a liner body that is smooth or textured and that may or may not include raised elastomeric grips, and that when used together with the liner body ay form a liner apparatus.
PROSTHETIC SYSTEM COMPRISING PROGRAMMED MAGNETS
In one example of the present disclosure, a system may be configured with a prosthetic liner configured to be worn over a residual limb of a user where the prosthetic liner comprises a first one or more programmed magnets. The system may be further configured with a prosthesis comprising a prosthetic socket configured to receive the residual limb and the prosthetic liner where the prosthetic socket comprises a second one or more programmed magnets. The first one or more programmed magnets are magnetically attracted to and repelled by corresponding ones of the second one or more programmed magnets when the prosthetic liner is received within the prosthetic socket.
Liner having different regions of elongation
A prosthetic liner includes a textile cover having at least first and second regions having different elongation from one another. The first region is in a prestretched configuration in at least one orientation relative to an axis of the prosthetic liner and locked in the prestretched configuration according to a layer of elastomeric material located along a surface of the textile cover.
Electrically conductive gel and conductive human interfaces and electrodes formed using electrically conductive gel
A conductive human interface includes an insulating body of elastomeric material and a compliant electrode embedded in the insulating body. The electrode is formed from an electrically conductive gel including a polymeric material and conductive particles dispersed in the polymeric material. The conductive particles can be included in the gel in an amount that is not more than about 10% by weight.
Prosthetic ankle joint
A prosthetic ankle joint for a prosthetic foot attached to a base assembly. A linkage assembly provided between the base assembly and a torque bracket including an adapter unit disposed at top of the torque bracket to provide a connection to a lower tube-shaped clamp fitted over a pilon. The pilon extends upward to a second tube-shaped clamp connected to a lower portion of a socket receiving a residual limb of an amputee.
LINER FOR PROSTHETIC AND ORTHOPEDIC SYSTEMS
A liner is arranged for use in prosthetic and orthopedic devices. The liner defines first and second end portions, and inner and outer surfaces. The liner includes an inner layer having a frictional component and forms at least part of the periphery of the inner liner surface. The inner layer defines a plurality of apertures. A porous element is in communication with the inner liner surface and is connected to the inner layer such that the apertures permit a transfer of air from the inner surface to the porous element. A base layer adjoins the porous element and extends between the first and second end portions of the liner.
Responsive biomechanical implants and devices
The present disclosure includes prosthetic devices, including implants for joints and external prosthetics. The prosthetic devices allow for full articulation of the joint, while absorbing impact of the components during normal use that will reduce wear on the device components and prolong life. The device may include a bone implantable component and a bearing component having an articulation surface that is sized and shaped to substantially mate with at least a portion of the bone implantable component and a damping mechanism that includes a contact member disposed at least primarily inside a cavity; a biasing member biasing the contact member toward an upper aperture of the cavity and means for capturing the contact member within the cavity.
Knitted interface
A knitted interface comprises a knitted structure formed from a plurality of elastomeric polymer filaments having a plurality of interstices permitting a transfer of air therethrough. The elastomeric polymer filaments may have a solid or hollow cross-section. The interstices vary in shape and size according to a knit density of the knitted structure upon movement or radial distension of the knitted interface. The elastomeric polymer filaments may be made from silicone.
