Method and apparatus for securing a patient's limb

A limb support apparatus and corresponding methods for making same are disclosed. The limb support can comprise a shell for supporting a patient's limb during treatment, examination, and/or recovery. The shell can comprise at least one padding configured to protect the patient's limb. The padding can be secured to the shell using one or more mounting structures included in the padding. The mounting structures are configured such that they are received by corresponding mounting openings and/or features in the shell. An interference fit between the mounting structures and mounting openings/features secures the padding against the shell, thereby preventing the padding from inadvertently moving or sliding on the shell. Embodiments disclosed herein eliminate the need for traditionally used fasteners that are often difficult to clean and sterilize, thereby improving the quality of patient care and facilitating cleaning of patient and/or operating rooms.

TOOLS AND METHODS FOR FITTING ORTHOSES

An orthosis is fitted to a body joint, in a preferred embodiment the equine fetlock, by locating the center of rotation (COR) of the joint; measuring the bones comprising the joint at points located with respect to the COR; selecting the appropriate orthosis from a selection of models thereof; and custom-fitting the orthosis to the individual by heating it to soften a layer of thermoformable foam on the interior of the orthosis and clamping the orthosis in place over the body joint. A kit of tools for performing the measurements is disclosed, as are a method for location of the COR of the body joint by palpation and a preferred heater.

Foot assistive device for improving drop foot gait

A foot assistive device for improving drop foot gait comprises an assistive device body and an elastic module. The assistive device body comprises a foot support base and a brace. The foot support base is movably connected to the brace. The elastic module connects the foot support base to the brace. The elastic module has a spring, a preset support included angle is formed between the foot support base and the brace under an elastic force of the spring. The support included angle is not larger than 90°. Thereby, when the foot is raised up, the foot support base is unlikely to drop excessively due to the foot weight, the drop foot gait is improved effectively.

ADJUSTABLE BOOT BRACE
20210128339 · 2021-05-06 ·

An adjustable boot brace adapted to stretch and support an inflamed tissue and/or inflamed plantar fascia within a person's foot while healing. The adjustable boot brace includes an outer shell being formed from plastic, an inner padding formed from soft foam, a toe plate, and a hinge that pivotally connects the toe plate to the outer shell so a person can adjust the position and angle of their toes. Five hook and loop straps are used to position and hold the adjustable boot brace to a person's leg and foot, including two for a calf portion, two for a foot portion, and one for the toe plate. Furthermore, at least one adjustable hook and loop strap is used to hold the toe plate at a chosen angle with respect to the outer shell in order to stretch and support the inflamed tissue and/or inflamed plantar fascia within a person's foot while using the adjustable boot brace for healing.

Orthosis with controlled angular excursion

An orthosis with controlled angular excursion can be positioned at the level of a joint or articulation of the human body. The orthosis includes an articulated joint with a basic structure designed to be positioned on the joint and also includes centrally, a pin with toothing located in a circular sector with predetermined width. The basic structure and the relative pin provided with toothing are equipped with a respective pair of rings, each of which has a substantially elongated shape. A hollow part, or slot, includes two straight sectors, of which at least one is provided with toothing with the same pitch as the toothing of the pin with which it engages. The pair of rings can, when in use, be simultaneously rotated around the pin, and are provided with slots which in turn include a tractor for the orthosis.

EXOSKELETON

The present invention discloses an exoskeleton which comprises a force balance back-carrying unit composed of a back-carrying assisting unit and a front-carrying assisting unit, a hip unit and a lower limb supporting unit, wherein the force balance back-carrying unit transfer the weight of a back-carrying load and/or a front-carrying load to the lower limb supporting unit through the hip unit to achieve the effort of assisting for the back-carrying load and/or the front-carrying load, wherein the length of the hip unit can be adjusted on the left-right plane and the upper-lower plane to adapt to wearers with different body types. On the other hand, the exoskeleton of the present invention is also provided with a buffer device to reduce the impact of the loads on the exoskeleton. The exoskeleton of the present invention also adopts quick-release joints, so as to modularize each part and standardize a docking interface of each module. The present invention can adapt to wearers with different hip shapes, and can transfer the weight of the back-carrying load and the front-carrying load to the lower limb supporting unit separately and simultaneously, so as to increase the weight-bearing efficiency and reduce the injuries to the back, the hands and the ankle joint.
