A tissue retention system to assist in maintaining adipose tissue on a patient in a displaced position during a medical procedure to provide access to a body region of the patient includes an anchor pad having a pad length and a pad width. The anchor pad may include a pad body with an adhesive surface thereon, the adhesive being configured to adhere to a patient's skin. The anchor pad also may include an opposing first attachment surface facing away from the adhesive surface. The tissue retention system also may include a tension member having a second attachment surface.

Devices for applying tension to a patient shoulder and associated installation method

A device comprises an arm cover to be positioned under the arm before being closed thereover, a shoulder strap to be positioned under the shoulder and adapted to wrap the shoulder when attached, over the shoulder, to the closed arm cover and a longitudinal strap to be fixed to the table opposite to the head. The longitudinal strap can apply tension on the shoulder strap when shortened. A method for installing a device on an immobilized patient comprising positioning an arm cover under the arm and a shoulder strap connected to the arm cover under the shoulder, closing the arm cover over the arm and attaching the shoulder strap, over the shoulder, to the closed arm cover, fixing an end of a longitudinal strap, connected to the arm cover, to the table opposite to the head and pulling on the longitudinal strap to apply tension on the shoulder strap.

An orthotic substantially precludes a human wearing it from rolling from her or his side to her or his face or back. The garment (such as a vest or jacket) has an open top portion, a front that can be closed by fasteners, a substantially closed rear, a first receptacle on the front, and a second receptacle on the rear and functionally cooperating with the first receptacle. Third and fourth receptacles are preferably also provided, the first and second receptacles on the left side of the garment, and the third and fourth on the right side. The garment may be primarily of a stretchable mesh fabric. A cylindrical or prismatic bolster (e. g. of firm foam or rubber) is insertable into, and removable from, each of the first and second receptacles, or each of the third and fourth receptacles.
