SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING NEGATIVE PRESSURE THERAPY USING PROPERTIES OF FLUIDS FROM A TISSUE SITE
Systems, apparatuses, and methods for providing negative pressure and/or instillation fluids to a tissue site are disclosed. Some embodiments are illustrative of an apparatus or system for delivering negative-pressure and/or therapeutic solution of fluids to a tissue site, which can be used in conjunction with sensing properties of fluids extracted from a tissue site and/or instilled at a tissue site. For example, an apparatus may comprise a dressing interface or connector that includes a pH sensor, a humidity sensor, a temperature sensor and/or a pressure sensor embodied on a single pad within the connector and proximate the tissue site to provide data indicative of acidity, humidity, temperature and pressure. Such apparatus may further comprise algorithms for processing such data for detecting leakage and blockage as well as providing information relating to the progression of healing of wounds at the tissue site. An illustrative method may comprise positioning a dressing interface having a pH sensor, a temperature sensor, a humidity sensor, and a pressure sensor at a tissue site, and applying reduced pressure to the dressing interface to draw fluids from the tissue interface in contact with the sensors to sense the pH, temperature, humidity, and pressure properties of the fluids flowing from the tissue site. The method may further comprise providing fluid data indicative of such properties to a processing element for processing the fluid data, and transmitting the data to another component in the system.
Arithmetic coding for information related to sample adaptive offset processing
An image coding method includes: performing context arithmetic coding to consecutively code (i) first information indicating whether or not to perform sample adaptive offset (SAO) processing for a first region of an image and (ii) second information indicating whether or not to use, in the SAO processing for the first region, information on SAO processing for a region other than the first region, the context arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a variable probability, the SAO processing being offset processing on a pixel value; and performing bypass arithmetic coding to code other information which is information on the SAO processing for the first region and different from the first information or the second information, after the first information and the second information are coded, the bypass arithmetic coding being arithmetic coding using a fixed probability.
SENSOR ENABLED WOUND MONITORING AND THERAPY APPARATUS
In some embodiments, a wound dressing that incorporates a number of sensors or sensors separate from the wound dressing can be utilized in order to monitor characteristics of a wound as it heals or to identify one or more risk factors or conditions that may precipitate a wound. In some implementations, a wound dressing configured to be positioned in contact with a wound includes a substantially flexible substrate supporting one or more sensors. The one or more sensors can include temperature sensors, conductivity sensors, multispectral optical measurements sensors, sensors, pressure sensors, colorimetric sensors, optical sensors, ultraviolet (UV) sensors, or infrared (IR) sensors.
Apparatus and methods for controlling tissue oxygenation for wound healing and promoting tissue viability
A wound treatment system includes a housing that defines an oxygen outlet. An oxygen production subsystem is included in the housing and coupled to the oxygen outlet. A control subsystem is coupled to the oxygen production subsystem and configured to receive pressure information that is indicative of a pressure in a restricted airflow enclosure that is coupled to the oxygen outlet. The control subsystem then uses the pressure information to control power provided to the oxygen production subsystem in order to control an oxygen flow that is created by the oxygen production subsystem and provided through the oxygen outlet to the restricted airflow enclosure.

SELF CONTAINED WOUND DRESSING WITH MICROPUMP
A composite wound dressing apparatus promotes healing of a wound via the use of a micropump system housed within or above a wound dressing member. The micropump system includes a miniature pump that applies a subatmospheric pressure to the wound to effectively draw wound fluid or exudate away from the wound bed without the need for a cumbersome external vacuum source. Hence, the wound dressing and micropump system is portable which allows the patient mobility that is unavailable when an external vacuum source is used. The patient does not need to be constrained for any period of time while exudate is being removed from the wound.
SENSING DEVICE FOR SENSING A COMPRESSIVE PRESSURE
A sensing device for sensing a compressive pressure applied by a compression bandage or a compression garment comprises a flexible substrate for wearing beneath the compression bandage or the compression garment. The sensing device also comprises a compression sensor attached to the flexible substrate, the compression sensor comprising an input and an output and a signal path therebetween. The input and the output are arranged such that a sensor signal received by the output varies in dependence on a relative configuration of the input and the output and/or the signal path therebetween. Also, the input and the output are arranged such that their relative configuration varies in dependence on a compressive pressure applied to the compression sensor, the compressive pressure having a component perpendicular to the substrate.
PRESSURE SENSOR
A sensor suitable for measuring the pressure applied by a bandage is provided. The sensor comprises an elongate strip having a sensor region. The sensor region comprises: a base plate; a top plate; a compressible spacer positioned between the base plate and the top plate and, an electronic sensing apparatus configured to detect distance between the top plate and the base plate. The top plate is arranged to compress the compressible spacer and arranged such that the bandage exerts a force on the surface of the top plate perpendicular to the surface when the sensor is positioned between the bandage and a limb.
