SANITARY ARTICLE

A sanitary article comprises a fluid permeable surface layer and a backsheet. The backsheet is provided with an adhesive in at least one adhesive region arranged on an outwardly oriented side for attachment of the sanitary article to an undergarment on a user-facing side of the undergarment and at least one adhesive-free region arranged on the outwardly oriented side. The surface layer is an air-through-bonded fibrous nonwoven surface layer having a basis weight of from 14 to 30 g/m.sup.2 and a density of from 20 to 90 kg/m.sup.3. The adhesive-free region extends in the longitudinal direction and the transverse width of the adhesive-free region is from 7% to 40% of total transverse width of the backsheet, as measured at a widest transverse width of the backsheet in the rear portion.

A first sheet layer made of a nonwoven fabric; a second sheet layer made of a nonwoven fabric opposed to one side of the first sheet layer; and a plurality of elongated elastically stretchable members provided along the stretchable direction at intervals from each other between the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer are provided. At least a part of each end of the elastically stretchable member is fixed to at least one of the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer only via a first hot melt adhesive. The first sheet layer and the second sheet layer are bonded via a second hot melt adhesive in a range in the stretchable direction corresponding to a space between the both ends of the elastically stretchable member. The holding power of the first hot melt adhesive is higher than the second hot meld adhesive.

DRESSING

A dressing includes a drape, a pressure-sensitive acrylic-based adhesive disposed on a skin-facing surface of the drape, an island of absorbent material including non-woven superabsorbent fibers, and a wound contact layer. The drape is a thin film capable of maintaining a negative pressure underneath the drape upon application of a vacuum. The island of absorbent material has a smaller area than the drape and is connected with and disposed beneath the sin-facing surface of the drape so as to leave a first margin of adhesive-coated drape around the island of absorbent material. The island of absorbent material further includes interruptions to reduce or eliminate tension or compression in the island of absorbent material as the dressing bends. The wound-contact layer is disposed on a skin-facing side of the island of absorbent material. The wound contact layer is configured not to stick to a wound.

The topsheet comprises three-dimensional protrusions 9 in the first layer 1 which are not bonded to the second layer 2. The heterophase polymer has an enthalpy of fusion of at least 10 J/g. The laminate may be used on the wearer-facing side of the article as topsheet 24 and/or on the garment-facing side as part of the backsheet 26. The first layer may comprise natural fibers.

A plurality of elongated elastically stretchable members are provided along the stretchable direction at intervals from each other between the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer. The first sheet layer and the second sheet layer have sheet bonded portions bonded via a hot melt adhesive disposed in a striped pattern that is intermittent in the longitudinal direction of the elastically stretchable members and continuously elongated in the direction intersecting with the elastically stretchable members. One of the first sheet layer and the second sheet layer is a spunbond nonwoven fabric, and the other sheet layer is an air-through nonwoven fabric whose surface on the spunbond nonwoven fabric side is a fluffy surface.
