A method and apparatus for producing absorbent sanitary articles including an absorbent body having two front oblique sides and two rear oblique sides, and two longitudinal elastic bands attached to the absorbent body along said oblique sides, where each of said elastic bands includes a front section and a rear section separated from each other by transverse cuts and joined together by refastenable closure formations.

A method and apparatus for producing elastic laminates, wherein a first continuous elastic film is stretched in a transverse direction by a spreader device and is applied on a transfer wheel on which it is cut longitudinally to form at least two parallel continuous elastic films which are transferred on a non-woven web held on an outer cylindrical surface of an anvil wheel.

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for assembling elastic laminates that may be used to make absorbent article components. Particular aspects of the present disclosure include providing a first substrate and a second substrate, the first substrate and the second substrate, each having a width in a cross direction; providing an elastic material; elongating the activated elastic material using a spreader mechanism; and ultrasonically bonding the first substrate together with the second substrate with the elongated activated elastic material positioned between the first substrate and the second substrate using an anvil and an ultrasonic device.

Feminine hygiene articles are disclosed herein. The feminine hygiene articles described herein can provide easily discernable placement and orientation guides which reduce the likelihood of misapplication by the user, facilitated attachment guides which can reduce the likelihood of misapplication of the feminine pad and can also reduce the likelihood of improper attachment of the feminine pad to a panty. The feminine hygiene articles disclosed include wings which can provide cues on proper attachment of the article to the panty, and wing adhesive distributed in a way which can provide sustained coverage of the feminine hygiene article to the panty which reduces the likelihood that the pad will become detached during use.

In order to manufacture a wearable article of the first size, the introduction velocity is set to the first introduction velocity having a high velocity and the arrangement velocity is set to the first the arrangement velocity having a high velocity. In order to manufacture wearable article of the second size having a shorter length in the carrying direction than that of the first size, the introduction velocity is set to the second introduction velocity lower than the first introduction velocity and the arrangement velocity is set to the second arrangement velocity lower than the first the arrangement velocity and the drum velocity is set to a fixed velocity regardless of the size.

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for assembling disposable pant diapers having contoured elastic belts. During the assembly process, opposing end regions of chassis are connected with the elastic belts in the form of first and second continuous elastic laminates. The chassis are then folded to place the elastic laminates into a facing relationship. The inner longitudinal edges of one or both the elastic laminates are then cut to define a contoured shape. Discrete pieces of trim material may be removed from one or both the elastic laminates, and the first and second continuous elastic laminates are cut in the cross direction to form discrete pant diapers. In some configurations, a single knife both removes the trim material and cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction. And in some configurations, a first knife removes the trim material and a second knife cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction.

The present disclosure provides improvements related to the following: (1) various materials for use in the external permeable wicking cover (outer bandage covering); (2) the placement of a shape retention element within an edge seam of the core wherein the shape retention element has rolled ends to prevent any sharp ends; and (3) various production improvements related to heat blooming of core for shape retention, continuous processing of the external covering and core, automatic cutting to length during production, vacuum hold for insertion of the core into the outer impermeable housing, and heat mold gluing/forming of the outer covering to the inner core.

A method for producing a chassis web for a disposable pant article, the method including feeding a first continuous base web in a machine direction; attaching a continuous elastic waistband component to the first base web in an attachment area extending in the machine direction; attaching a second continuous base web to the first continuous base web and the continuous waistband component, covering at least the continuous waistband component, thereby forming a compound base web having first and second side edges, the attachment area being spaced apart from at least one of the first and second side edges of the compound base web; severing the compound base web and the attached waistband component by cutting; shifting positions of the first panel web and the second panel web in a cross machine direction; forming a coherent chassis web.

The present disclosure relates to methods for making apertured elastic laminates that may be used as components of absorbent articles. The methods and apparatuses may be close coupled such that materials may advance directly between aperturing and bonding operations. Such close coupling of devices may help to more precisely control the positions of the apertures in substrates relative to positions of apertures opposing substrates and/or bonds in the assembled laminate. The methods and apparatuses herein may also provide the ability to orient protrusions or protuberances in the substrates created by the aperturing process so as to extend inward and away from both outer surfaces of the assembled laminate. In turn, the assembly processes may be conducted so as to help mitigate reductions in softness that might otherwise result from the aperturing process in the assembled laminate.

An apparatus for manufacturing an article including an absorbent body includes: first and second rolls, in cooperation with each other, for trimming a continuous laminate to be the absorbent body so as to successively form the narrowed portions along the continuous laminate; a third roll for rotating in contact with the second roll to receive the continuous laminate from the second roll; and a separating cutter for successively severing the continuous laminate being carried by the third roll into units of individual articles, thereby obtaining the absorbent body.
