ELASTICIZED WAISTBAND FOR USE IN AN ABSORBENT GARMENT AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME
20230143833 · 2023-05-11 ·

Absorbent garments are made by applying a refastenable material to a continuous panel web, folding the panel web, cutting the folded panel web into discrete folded panels, and aligning the folded panels with perforations in a continuous elasticized waist web. Discrete folded patches are coupled to the elastic web via the refastenable material and the perforation cuts are broken to form a continuous waistband. Absorbent cores are coupled between the continuous waistband and a second continuous waistband, which are cut to form the absorbent garments. The manufacturing apparatus includes a perforation cutter that forms perforation cuts in a continuous waist web comprising elastic elements positioned between facing web layers, a panel applicator that cuts a folded panel web into discrete panels and attaches the discrete panels to the waist web about the perforation cut. A breakage system separates the waist web at the perforation cuts and unfolds the discrete panels.

System and method for making elastic panels

A system for manufacturing elastic strand nonwoven panels including an unwind module, a lamination module and a folding module. Elastic strand material is fed from cores disposed on the unwind module through rollers towards the lamination module, where the elastic strand material is attached to a nonwoven web to form an elastic strand nonwoven web. At the folding module, the elastic strand nonwoven web is folded over itself by operation of plates underneath which the elastic strand nonwoven web is fed under tension.

Methods and apparatuses for making absorbent articles having contoured belts

The present disclosure relates to methods and apparatuses for assembling disposable pant diapers having contoured elastic belts. During the assembly process, opposing end regions of chassis are connected with the elastic belts in the form of first and second continuous elastic laminates. The chassis are then folded to place the elastic laminates into a facing relationship. The inner longitudinal edges of one or both the elastic laminates are then cut to define a contoured shape. Discrete pieces of trim material may be removed from one or both the elastic laminates, and the first and second continuous elastic laminates are cut in the cross direction to form discrete pant diapers. In some configurations, a single knife both removes the trim material and cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction. And in some configurations, a first knife removes the trim material and a second knife cuts the elastic laminates in cross direction.

WRAPPER FOR ABSORBENT ARTICLE

The disclosure pertains to a wrapper (22) for an absorbent article (10) comprising a release paper (51,51′) comprising a layer of cellulosic fibers (33), a layer of peeling agent (32) arranged onto the layer of cellulosic fibers (33). According to the disclosure, the layer of cellulosic fibers (33) comprises a basis weight comprised between 10 gsm and 40 gsm. The disclosure also relates to an assembly comprising an absorbent article (10) and such wrapper (22) and a process to manufacture such assembly (10).

Methods and apparatuses herein relate to folding a substrate advancing in a machine direction through and assembly process, wherein the substrate includes a first outer region separated from a second outer region in a cross direction by a central region. The first outer region and the second outer region are continuous in the machine direction and the central region is discontinuous in the machine direction. During the folding process, the first outer region is conveyed in the machine direction while the central region is folded around a folding axis to place the second outer region in a facing relationship with the first outer region. The folding axis may be defined by a rail and/or a longitudinal edge of a conveyor. As such, the folding apparatus may be configured in various ways to help reduce negative effects of frictional forces acting on the central region of the substrate while folding.
