The article also includes an absorbent insert bonded to the chassis absorbent unit, a removable portion of the absorbent insert configured to be selectively removable from the chassis absorbent unit, wherein the absorbent insert includes an insert topsheet, an insert backsheet, and an insert absorbent core sandwiched between the insert topsheet and the insert backsheet. The absorbent insert further includes a line of weakness that provides for separation of the absorbent insert into a removable portion configured to be removed from the chassis absorbent unit, and a resident portion that remains bonded to the chassis absorbent unit.

The stretchable regions A2 and A3 include multiple elongated elastically stretchable members 19 disposed between two sheet layers 12S and 12H at predetermined intervals in the front-back direction and extending in the width direction. The elastically stretchable members 19 each include two fixed ends 19f fixed to the two sheet layers 12S and 12H, and the section between the fixed ends 19f is unfixed to the two sheet layers 12S and 12H. The two sheet layers 12S and 12H are welded into sheet bonding sections 20, at positions between the elastically stretchable members 19 in the stretchable regions A2 and A3 adjacent is the front-back direction. No sheet bonding section protrudes from the side seal portion in the stretchable regions A2 and A3.

A stool management and collection system for acutely and chronically ill patients that prevents stool channeling and the consequential breakdown of patient skin. It comprises a bandage unit, a contour pad, a backing member, an easily connectible and releasable fastener, and a stool holding bag with a tapered upper portion. In addition, a diaper is used to collect patient urine and support the stool holding bag in approximately the same area where an incontinence pad is worn, instead of on the patient's backside as in the prior art. Furthermore, the opening in the bandage unit should leave a minimum distance of approximately three-sixteenths of an inch around the patient's rectal opening for the application of barrier cream or other skin-protecting substance. Super absorbent polymer (SAP) resin may be employed as a part of the system's structure, and a liner may be added to the stool collection bag.

The first and second permanent side edge seams define an initial waist opening circumference and a pair of leg openings. The first and second permanent side edge seams may be folded to be offset from a transverse axis of the absorbent article. The absorbent article comprises a first fastening component comprising a first fastening surface and a first attachment surface. The first attachment surface is disposed on the exterior surface of the absorbent article in the front waist region. The absorbent article comprises a second fastening component comprising a second fastening surface. The second fastening component is disposed on or forms a portion of the exterior surface of the absorbent article. The initial waist opening circumference formed by the first and second permanent side edge seams is configured to be opened. The first fastening surface and the second fastening surface are configured to be refastenably engaged and separated with each other.

The low-strength attachment zone may further have a first peel strength and the high-strength attachment zone may have a second peel strength, the second peel strength greater than the first.
