100% AMBIENT AIR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM WITH BLEED TURBINE IN SERIES
An environmental control system of a vehicle includes a first compression device including a compressor, a first turbine, and a power turbine operably coupled by a shaft. The first turbine is configured to receive a first medium, the compressor is configured to receive a second medium, and the power turbine is configured to receive a third medium. A second compression device, separate from the first compression device, includes a second turbine. The environmental control system is operable in a first mode and a second mode. In the first mode, the second medium is provided to the compressor and the second turbine sequentially. In the second mode, the second medium bypasses the second turbine. In in both the first mode and the second mode, only the second medium is provided to an outlet of the environmental control system.
Large drone
The invention discloses a large drone that is powered by solar energy. In addition, the drone includes a large, lightweight fuselage that not only keeps balance and stability but also reduces the required power during flight.
AIRCRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEMS HAVING ELECTRICALLY POWERED RAM CIRCUIT FANS
Aircraft environmental control systems having electrically powered ram circuit fans are described herein. An example environmental control system includes an air cycle machine to produce cabin air for a cabin of the aircraft. The air cycle machine includes a turbine and a heat exchanger. The environmental control system also includes a ram circuit. The heat exchanger is disposed in the ram circuit. The environmental control system further includes a fan in the ram circuit to control air flow through the ram circuit and across the heat exchanger, an electric motor, and an overrunning clutch operatively coupled between the turbine and the electric motor to enable the turbine to drive the fan during a first mode of operation and to enable the electric motor to drive the fan during a second mode of operation.
ELECTRIC MOTOR WITH INTEGRATED COOLING SYSTEM
An axial flux electric can include a motor assembly including a motor shaft, a stator assembly, and a rotor assembly. The stator assembly can include a plurality of stator cores about which a wire coil is wound, wherein one or more of the stator cores includes a stator body with an internal fluid passageway for receiving a cooling fluid.
AIRCRAFT AIR DUCT SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING ELECTRICAL POWER AND VISIBLE LIGHT
An air duct system includes an air duct having a main body. The main body of the air duct defines a passageway and an outer surface. The air duct system also includes one or more thermoelectric generators. Each thermoelectric generator includes a hot side and a cold side, and the hot side of the thermoelectric generator is positioned along the outer surface of the air duct.
CRYOGENIC FLUID HEAT EXCHANGER SYSTEM FOR AN AIRCRAFT ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEM (ECS)
An environmental control system (ECS) for an aircraft includes a primary heat exchanger, a compressor including an inlet fluidically connected to the primary heat exchanger, a turbine operatively connected to the compressor, and a cryogenic fluid heat exchanger fluidically connected to the primary heat exchanger.
CRYOGENIC FUEL COOLED ECS PRECOOLER
Aircraft systems including a fuel tank containing a cryogenic fuel, an engine configured to consume the fuel, and an ECS having a precooler arranged to receive the fuel and air from the engine. The precooler includes a first heat exchanger configured to receive a first state of the fuel and output a second state of the fuel and a second heat exchanger configured to receive the second state fuel and output a third state fuel. The first state has a first density, the second state has a second density, and the third state has a third density, wherein the first density is greater than the second density, and the second density is greater than the third density. The engine air is directed through the second heat exchanger first and then through the first heat exchanger.
INTEGRATED MID-PRESSURE WATER SEPARATOR
A water separator includes an outer annular passage extending along a central longitudinal axis of water separator to direct an airflow along a first direction, and an inner annular passage located radially inboard of the outer annular passage and coaxial with the outer annular passage to direct the airflow along a second direction. A coalescer is located along the outer annular passage to coalesce water in the airflow. A water collector is located along the inner annular passage to collect the water. An airflow outlet is located downstream of the water collector through which the airflow exits the water separator.
TURBOMACHINERY ROTOR SHROUD WITH VARIABLE LATTICE DENSITIES
A rotor shroud for a rotary machine in a cabin air compressor includes a disk portion centered on a central axis of the rotor shroud, a frustoconical portion extending from the disk portion, a flared portion extending from the frustoconical portion, and a variable lattice structure in an interior of the rotor shroud. The variable lattice structure includes a first region of the rotor shroud having a first lattice structure and a second region of the rotor shroud having a second lattice structure. The second lattice structure of the second region is denser than the first lattice structure of the first region. The second region is a deflection region, a stress region, or an energy containment region of the rotor shroud.
TURBOMACHINERY HOUSING WITH VARIABLE LATTICE DENSITIES
A housing for a rotary machine includes a support sleeve extending along a central axis of the rotary machine, a volute portion defining a duct in the housing, and a variable lattice structure in an interior of the housing. The variable lattice structure includes a first region of the housing having a first lattice structure and a second region of the housing having a second lattice structure. The second lattice structure of the second region is denser than the first lattice structure of the first region. The second region is a deflection region, a stress region, or an energy containment region of the housing.
