Device for detecting fullness of bladder
One example embodiment is a device for detecting fullness of a bladder of a subject. The device includes a distension sensor, an electromyography (EMG) sensor and a microcontroller. The distension sensor is located on a waistband of a pant and detects changes to a curvature of skin adjacent the bladder. The EMG sensor is located in the pant and includes two EMG electrodes that detect potential difference caused by contractions of the bladder. The microcontroller processes signals received from the distension sensor and the EMG sensor and generates, based on the signals, an output value that indicates the fullness of the bladder.
MONOTONOUS GAME-LIKE TASK TO PROMOTE EFFORTLESS AUTOMATIC RECOGNITION OF SIGHT WORDS
System and methods are provided to promote effortless automatic recognition of common sight words. A subject performs a game-like task that generates novel non-verbal visual stimuli that triggers visual attention shifts that enhance foveal and parafoveal recognition of non-verbal and verbal stimuli laterally presented in the right or left visual field. The present invention engages a shared motor-perceptual-cognitive neural network involving oculomotor, visuo-motor and selective executive cognitive behaviors on both brain hemispheres. The present invention has applications to a wide range of non-verbal pre-orthographic visual processes and early lexical processes, not only contributing to enabling reading fluency to dyslexics, reluctant and slow readers, but also to beginning readers. The present invention has wide applications in learning disabilities and normative individuals learning to read.

Fixation filter assembly
A filter assembly is provided for collecting samples in a fluid environment, the assembly utilizing a laminar convective flow to cause the flow of a preservative/fixative and a filtrate through a filter. A substantially concave dead space around the filter is flushed free of the preservative and the differential in density of the preservative and filtrate causes the more dense fluid to collect in the reservoir and preserve the collected specimen.
