A patient support apparatus including a patient couch and a single supporting pillar on which the patient couch is arranged in an adjustable and cantilevered manner, is provided. The apparatus includes a first rotary frame and a second rotary frame. The first rotary frame rotates about a first axis and encloses the supporting pillar. The second rotary frame rotates about a second axis, rotatably encloses the first rotary frame, and is fixed to the patient couch. The first rotary frame and the second rotary frame form a gimbal mount for the patient couch.

Reconfigurable transport apparatus

A transport apparatus includes a frame, a lift mechanism supporting the frame, and a litter deck for supporting a person. The litter deck is adapted to be reconfigured between a chair configuration and a cot configuration. The litter deck is also adapted to be removably mounted to the frame, with the litter deck being adapted to be supported by the frame while the litter deck is in its chair configuration and also while being reconfigured between its chair configuration and its cot configuration.

Patient Support Systems With Hollow Rotary Actuators

A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a base and a patient support surface supported by the base. The patient support apparatus also comprises movable members that are movable between at least a first position and a second position. One or more hollow rotary actuators are coupled to each movable member. The hollow rotary actuator permits drive torque to move the movable member in a desired position between the first and second positions and restricts back drive torque from moving the movable member. The hollow rotary actuator is also hollow to allow objects to be placed therethrough.

Patient Support Systems With Rotary Actuators Having Cycloidal Drives

A patient support system comprises a patient support apparatus for patients. The patient support apparatus comprises a support structure and a patient support surface supported by the support structure. The patient support apparatus also comprises movable members. One or more rotary actuators are coupled to the movable members. The rotary actuator comprises a gear assembly with a cycloidal drive arranged to drive movement of the movable member. The gear assembly also restricts back drive torque from backdriving the movable member.

USER INPUT DEPLOYMENT BASED ON FOOT PEDAL ENGAGEMENT

A patient bed has a pedal that is engaged by a user's foot to control a feature of the patient bed. The patient bed also has a user input such as a control panel or graphical user interface (GUI). The user input deploys from a storage position to a use position in response to engagement of the pedal by the user. For example, the user input deploys automatically out of a cavity in a siderail of the patient bed to a use position in response to a brake pedal of the patient bed being moved to a brake position to brake casters of the patient bed.

METHOD OF POWERED WIDTH EXPANSION OF A BED

A bed comprises a fixed width deck section, a wing movably coupled to the fixed width section, and a rack and pinion mechanism for extending and retracting the wing.

AUTO LEVELING LOW PROFILE PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS

A patient support apparatus including a patient support surface and a repositioning mechanism for vertically and angularly repositioning the surface. The apparatus including sensors for automatically detecting and inhibiting attempts to vertically reposition the surface when it is at a particular angular position, and attempts to angularly reposition the surface when it is at a particular vertical position. The apparatus also includes a tilt control system for limiting the extent to which head or foot ends of the surface can be angularly repositioned, a scale and a warning system for communicating a warning when a change in the weight on the surface is indicative of a patient moving or attempting to move off of the surface, a sensor for detecting an increase in amperage during an operation and stopping the operation, and an ability to update microcontroller programming via a controller area network bus.

SUPPORT SURFACE USEFUL LIFE MONITORING

A patient support apparatus includes a frame, a support surface, and a sensor. The frame and the support surface cooperate to support a patient. The sensor is coupled to one of the frame and the support surface and is configured to provide an input signal indicative of usage of the support surface by the patient.
