20210121353 · 2021-04-29 ·

A device and method for engaging the foot distal to the metatarsi that enables a full stretch of the plantar fascia, muscles of the feet and lower leg. The invention has an elongated shaft that has a brace element affixed to the end of the shaft pointed away from a human user and a handle element affixed to the opposite end of the shaft. When the handle element is pulled toward the human user, the brace element engages the foot such that the intended stretch on the plantar and posterior portions of the foot and leg is initiated.

DEVICE FOR ASSISTING WITH EXTENSION AND/OR FLEXION

Embodiments of the invention are directed to devices and methods for providing extension and flexion assistance. A device manipulates a foot of a user, thereby providing extension or flexion assistance to an ankle of the user, and includes a footplate positioned at a pre-determined distance from the user and adapted to pivot about an axis defined by the ankle as the foot extends or flexes about the ankle; and a force application system comprising a force applicator connected to the footplate, and a force application mechanism, wherein the force application mechanism is configured to apply a force to the force applicator, thereby providing the extension or flexion assistance to the foot about the ankle.

Preloaded Personal Augmentation Suit and Method for Assisted Human Motion

A human motion assistance device has an upper torso harness and a preloaded leg strap arrangement affixed to the upper torso harness. The preloaded leg strap arrangement has an X-bracket connected to the upper torso harness. The preloaded leg strap arrangement further uses a plurality of blocks and a preloaded strap routed through the blocks and connected to the X-bracket. The preloaded leg strap arrangement further uses a knee pad with a split seam. The preloaded strap is under tension, even when the human motion assistance device is in a relaxed state. The preloading provides an immediate force which increases under a loaded state. The potential energy stored during the loaded state is released when transitioning from a standing position to a crouched, squatting, or seated position. The configuration allows for maximizing the energy storage without putting excess shoulder pressure on the user when standing.
