Anti-Aging Corrective and Protective Formulation and Methods

There are presented topical formulations and methods of applying these formulations in therapeutically effective amounts directly to areas of the human skin to remediate and to counter effects that are commonly regarded as aging. The formulations address the effects on the skin of UV light, High Energy Visible (HEV) light, blue light, and Urban Dust as well as remediating fine lines and age-related localized melanin concentrations (age spots), improving the uniformity of skin tone (reduction in skin redness) and enhancing the brightness of the skin to provide a more youthful appearance. Skin treated with the formulations also exhibit a reduction in the depth and prominence of wrinkles, a marked reduction in harmful reactive oxygen species in the treated skin, and a reduction in lipid peroxidation caused by Urban Dust.

COSMETIC COMPOSITION

It is to provide a cosmetic composition comprising a coacervate droplet which can form a metastable water-in-water type emulsion. A cosmetic composition of the present invention comprises a water phase as a matrix and an oil phase dispersed therein, and stabilized by a coacervate droplet of an anionic polyelectrolyte and a cationic polyelectrolyte, the coacervate droplet being one which can form a metastable water-in-water type emulsion.

Oil-Based Cosmetic

An oil-based cosmetic contains, as an oily base, an oil containing a phytosterol derivative, having a refractive index at 40 C. of 1.50 or more, and being liquid at 25 C. (A) and a liquid silicone oil that is incompatible with the oil (A) at 25 C. (B). In addition to the oily base material, a separation inhibitor to suppress separation of the oil of the component (A) and the silicone oil of the component (B) (C) is preferably contained, and a powder (D) and a solid oil and/or lipophilic gelling agent (E) may also be contained. A form of the of oil-based cosmetic can be appropriately selected according to an application, and can be a liquid, paste, solid, or the like.

Double emulsions

A water-in-oil-in-water (W.sub.1/O/W.sub.2) emulsion comprising a lipid phase (O) and a water phase (W.sub.2), the lipid phase being distributed inside the water phase, wherein the lipid phase contains water droplets (W.sub.1), wherein the water content inside the lipid phase is between 10 wt % and 80 wt % relative to total weight of the lipid phase, wherein the water droplets are stabilized inside the lipid phase by an emulsifier composition, wherein the emulsifier composition comprises an Acetone-insoluble (AI) component containing a Phosphatidyl Choline (PC), a Phosphatidyl Inositol (PI), a Phosphatidyl Ethanolamine (PE) and a Phosphatidic Acid (PA), wherein PC is at most 15.5% relative to the total weight of the emulsifier composition and wherein the emulsifier composition has a phospholipid weight ratio R of at most 65%, the ratio R being defined according to Formula R(in %)=100?(PC+PI+PE+PA)/AI.
