An umbrella stand may include a receptacle for receiving a portion of a mast of an umbrella and a base portion configured to interface with a ground surface. A movable joint is disposed between the receptacle and the base portion. A frictional force present between components of the movable joint is great enough to maintain a position of the receptacle relative to the base portion under the weight of the umbrella and mast, and is small enough that the receptacle can be repositioned relative to the base portion by application of a manual force to the mast of the umbrella. The movable joint may be lockable into different positions.

A shading object includes a base unit, one or more support units coupled to the base unit, a louver system coupled to the one or more support units, and a plurality of shading elements coupled to the one or more support units and the louver system. The one or more support units are positioned next to each other when the shading object is in a closed position. The plurality of shading elements are folded when the shading object is in a closed position. The one or more support units are moved apart from each other when the shading object is in an open position. The louver system adjusts a horizontal and/or a vertical orientation of at least one of the plurality of shading elements. The base unit further includes one or more weight compartments to provide stability to the shading object.

An umbrella includes a fixing tube and a coupling member mounted on an end of the fixing tube. A positioning ring is mounted around and not rotatable relative to the coupling member. A rotational sleeve is rotatably mounted to the coupling member and is spaced from the positioning ring. A driving jacket is mounted around the connecting ring and the positioning ring. The driving jacket is fixed to the positioning ring and is movable between an engagement position in which the positioning ring engages with the connecting ring and a disengagement position in which the positioning ring disengages from the connecting ring. The rotational sleeve is rotatable relative to the coupling member when the driving jacket is in the disengagement position, permitting a change in an orientation of a tilted canopy of the umbrella to face the sun for obtaining a better shielding effect.
