Latch interface for a valve actuating device
09822673 · 2017-11-21 · ·

A novel latch seat for a switching rocker arm assembly used in variable valve actuation (VVA) systems for internal combustion engines. The seat is formed interactively in the assembled switching rocker arm using a novel fixture and press. The press interactively creates a curved dimple of the correct curvature, position and depth while measuring several lash dimensions. Since the latch seat is formed on the assembled rocker arm assembly, the latch seat depth is designed to account for the inaccuracies in the rocker arm assembly parts which create lash. Therefore all of the parts may be made with less precision since the latch seat is sized to compensate for the inaccuracies of all of the parts. The rocker arm assembly parts now may be manufactured to less stringent standards, but result in a rocker arm assembly with same accuracy of rocker arm assemblies manufactured to previous standards.

Fixtures for pipe installation, sealing and security
09802282 · 2017-10-31 ·

These fixtures aid in installing, sealing and securing pipe. Specifically, the invention aids in mating bell & spigot joints and securely capping open pipe ends of standard polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyethylene (PE), and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) pipe products as well as non-plastic piping by enabling equalized full circumference pressure on pipe ends to nudge, seal and/or secure pipe ends during installation or decommissioning.

Method and apparatus for repairing a pipe junction
09791089 · 2017-10-17 · ·

An assembly and method of sealing a junction of a pipe and a second structure are provided. The assembly includes a pipe liner having a tubular portion and a brim portion, and a mechanical anchor adapted to secure the brim portion of the pipe liner to the second structure. The assembly may further include a compression gasket for placement between the pipe liner and the pipe or second structure. The compression gasket may comprise a hydrophilic material, a hydrophobic material, or a compressible material. The methods of using the assembly include, but are not limited to, the use of a cured-in-place pipe liner.

An autoinjector includes a rear body assembly (10) connected to a front body assembly, wherein the rear body assembly (10) contains a drive mechanism (60 . . . ) and the front body assembly contains a syringe (13) or cartridge with a needle at its forward end, the front body assembly including a viewing window (22) through which at least part of the contents of the syringe (13) or cartridge are visible, a removable cap (14) fitted to the forward end of the front body assembly the rear body assembly and the removable cap having respective aligned cut-away regions together defining a frame for the viewing window. Also disclosed is a modular scheme which uses a common platform for the provision of a range of autoinjectors of different fill volumes, with only the length of the plunger (60), and the axial extent of the cut out varying between different versions.

Joint seal system and method

A joint seal system and method may include a seal and a band. The seal may be positioned between abutting flanges of two adjacent duct sections. A band may be positioned over the two flanges and the flange interface. The joint seal system and method may be configured to mitigate and/or eliminate leakage of pressure, flue gases, condensate, and/or any other fluid, gas, and/or vapor between abutting flanges of duct sections at a flange interface.

USER INTERCHANGEABLE ORNAMENTAL PORTIONS OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES

A method and apparatus is disclosed for the customization of electronic equipment of which portable audio players, portable disc players, portable digital games and laptop computers are representative. The electronic equipment may be fitted with a substantially transparent faceplate that may cover removable inserts. These inserts may be customizable to provide unique decorative appearances to the electronic equipment upon which they may be fitted. Decorative designs may either be preprinted on the inserts or a user may produce a customized design.

Disassembly method for a gas turbine

Method for replacing, inspecting, and/or repairing components in front bearing region of gas turbine, the gas turbine having at least one fan module, housing, low-pressure system, and high-pressure system, the low-pressure system having low-pressure compressor, low-pressure turbine, connecting shaft, stub shaft, and an N1 shaft connected to the low-pressure compressor via the stub shaft and the connecting shaft, the connecting shaft supported in the housing via first bearing unit, and the stub shaft supported in the housing via second bearing unit, the method including dismounting the fan module, fixing the N1 shaft in an axial direction relative to the housing using fixing device, and dismounting the stub shaft using guide device, the orientation of which relative to the gas turbine in at least one spatial direction is determined by a component of the remaining gas turbine, this taking place after fixing the N1 shaft and after dismounting the fan module.

Method and system for replacing a single wind turbine blade

A method of replacing a wind turbine blade includes connecting a plurality of first hoisting devices between a wind turbine support hub and the wind turbine blade, suspending the wind turbine blade from the wind turbine support hub through the plurality of first hoisting devices, connecting a plurality of second hoisting devices between the wind turbine support hub and the wind turbine blade, supporting the wind turbine support blade with the plurality of second hoisting devices, disconnecting the plurality of first hoisting devices from the wind turbine blade, and lowering the wind turbine blade to the ground.

Beverage preparation machines

A delivery head for a beverage preparation machine comprising a movable first part, a fixed second part and a cartridge guide; the first part being movable between an open position and a clamping position; the cartridge guide being operatively engaged with the first part and slidably movable relative to the second part between a loading position and a dispensing position; the cartridge guide being located in the loading position when the first part is in the open position so as to enable loading of a cartridge into the cartridge guide; wherein on movement of the first part into the clamping position the cartridge guide is slidable into the dispensing position due to the operative engagement of the cartridge guide with the first part.

Method of connecting jewelry components
09730498 · 2017-08-15 ·

Two plates, corresponding to the diameter of a length of riveting material being used, act as gauges and are placed separately on the top and bottom of at least one components to be made into a jewelry item. The length of material, such as a wire or tubing, is passed through holes in all the components, and the holes of the plates. This allows the jewelry maker to cut the length of material flush with the exposed surface of the plate on the top of the stack. This automatically measures the optimal length of material needed to span the combined thickness of all the components to be riveted together, while providing the desired length exposed at the top and bottom of the stacked pieces, to fashion a properly formed and secure flattened rivet head on each end of the length of material.
