Compositions and methods to affect skin irritation
Compositions are described that contain treated chitosan, modified chitosan and/or modified and treated chitosan for use in formulations for skin, hair and nails, and in compositions and methods of reducing topical agent-induced skin irritation and inflammation.
METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR REVERSING OR MITIGATING SKIN AGING
A method for reversing or mitigating skin aging comprising topically applying a composition which comprises at least one oxidant, and at least one fluorescent dye capable of activating the oxidant and illuminating said composition for a time sufficient to activate the at least one oxidant.
Use of a hemoglobin for the preparation of dressings and resulting dressings
The invention relates to the use of a haemoglobin for the preparation of dressings and to the resulting dressings.
COSMETIC TREATMENT PROCESS FOR A KERATIN MATERIAL
A cosmetic treatment process for a keratin material, including placing the keratin material in contact with at least one cationic polymer with a molecular weight of between 500 and 5,000,000 daltons, and either simultaneously with or consecutively to the placing the keratin material in contact with said cationic polymer, an electric current is applied using at least one electrode for a time that is sufficient to deposit at the surface of the keratin material an effective amount of said cationic polymer.
Compositions and methods to affect skin irritation
Compositions are described that contain treated chitosan, modified chitosan and/or modified and treated chitosan for use in formulations for skin, hair and nails, and in compositions and methods of reducing topical agent-induced skin irritation and inflammation.
Chitin-glucan complex, its preparation, and uses
A biocomposite powder comprising 20-95% (w/w) chitin-glucan complex (CGC), and up to 50% (w/w) mannose-containing polysaccharides, wherein the biocomposite powder has a bulk density of 0.5 to 1.0 g/cm.sup.3, and wherein greater than 60% (w/w) of the particles of the biocomposite powder have a size below 212 μm.
DETECTION AND TREATMENT OF CARIES AND MICROCAVITIES WITH NANOPARTICLES
Components, for example, nanoparticles for detecting and/or treating one or more active carious lesions or microcavities in teeth of a subject are provided. The component or nanoparticle may comprise a biocompatible and biodegradable polymer (e.g., a starch) bearing at least one cationic region and/or having a net positive charge and thereby capable of associating with one or more active and/or early carious lesions on a tooth in an oral cavity of a subject. The components or nanoparticles are optionally water soluble or dispersible. The components or nanoparticle also comprises an imaging agent (e.g., a fluorophore or dye) bonded to the biocompatible and biodegradable polymer. The component or nanoparticle is thus capable of indicating the presence of one or more active carious lesions when the component or nanoparticle is associated therewith. Oral care compositions comprising such compounds/nanoparticles and methods of making and using the same are also provided.
Soluble adducts of boric acid or derivatives and precursors thereof with chitosan oligosaccharide derivatives
Disclosed are adducts of boric acid and chitosan wherein the amino groups of the D-glucosamine units are bonded to residues of polyol or alditol oligosaccharides, the molar ratio between boric acid and the repeating chitosan unit ranging between 0.001 and 4.
Preparation for attaching to teeth or surrounding part of teeth
The present invention provides a preparation for attaching to teeth or tooth peripheries, which comprises a malleable oral composition and an active ingredient for intra-oral delivery. Further, the present invention provides a preparation for attaching to teeth or tooth peripheries, which comprises an oral composition in a hardening ointment-phase and an active ingredient for intra-oral delivery. The preparation of the present invention may give high adhesive force to the desired site in spite of gaps between teeth or curves of teeth. The preparation of the present invention having high adhesive force increases the time of adhesion to a target site in the oral cavity, and thus may be advantageous in achieving an intended effect.
Dicarboxylic acid foamable vehicle and pharmaceutical compositions thereof
The present invention teaches a foamable pharmaceutical carrier comprising a benefit agent, selected from the group consisting of a dicarboxylic acid and a dicarboxylic acid ester; a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of at least one surface-active agent; at least one polymeric agent and mixtures thereof; a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, a hydrophilic solvent, a hydrophobic solvent, a potent solvent, a polar solvent, a silicone, an emollient, and mixtures thereof, wherein the benefit agent, stabilizer and solvent are selected to provide a composition that is substantially resistant to aging and to phase separation and or can substantially stabilize other active ingredients. The invention further relates to a foamable composition further containing a liquefied hydrocarbon gas propellant.
