Disclosed is a personal care composition comprising: a) particle comprising chitosan salt at the outer surface of the particle; and b) silicone component selected from dimethicone, aminosilicone or a mixture thereof, wherein the silicone component has a viscosity of at least 5,000 cSt at 25° C.
Bonding tissues and cross-linking proteins with naphthalimide compounds
Naphthalimide compounds are used in tissue bonding and protein cross-linking applications. When activated by an activating agent, such as light in the 400-500 nm absorption range, the naphthalimide compounds form chemically-reactive species that cross-link proteins, bond connective tissues together, and bond tissues and other biomaterials together. A naphthalimide-labeled biomolecule, such as a naphthalimide-labeled chitosan, is also capable of bonding tissues without subsequent direct illumination of the contacted tissue area. The naphthalimide compounds may be used in tissue or arterial repair, stabilization of an expanded arterial wall after angioplasty, tethering pharmaceutical agents to tissue surfaces to provide local drug delivery, and for chemically bonding skin care products, sunscreens, and cosmetics to the skin.
COSMETIC POWDER TREATED WITH POLYSACCHARIDE AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME
The present disclosure relates generally to cosmetic powders in which the powders are surface modified with at least one polysaccharide, or salt forms thereof. The powders may be used in cosmetic compositions such as a powder foundation, liquid foundation, point makeup, lip, mascara, eyeliner, skin care products which are skin cream, hair care products which are shampoo, conditioner, treatment and hair styling products, hair color products, cleansing products which are a body soap, hand soap and facial cleanser.

Compositions are described that include an oil, a surfactant, and optionally a charged polymer complex, where the composition may also include an aqueous phase to provide a microemulsion. TRANSPARENT COMPOSITIONS
A composition comprising: A) a transparent gel base, comprising: a) a polymeric thickener, b) a solubiliser, c) a pH adjuster, d) a calcium sequestrant, e) water, f) an optional protein, g) an optional active material, which is selected from disaccharides, lactones, inorganic salts, diacids and mixtures thereof, h) an optional dye preferably comprising violet, blue, red or mixtures thereof, wherein the solubiliser comprises a mixture of at least two components, said mixture comprising at least one high HLB component having an HLB value of from 10 to 20 and at least one low HLB component having an HLB value of from 1 to less than 10, and B) a hydrogel particle, comprising: a) a matrix, and b) a silicone or blend of silicones, wherein the silicone or blend of silicones has an average molecular weight of greater than 400 Da, and wherein the particle has an average diameter of 0.1 to 15 mm and wherein the silicone is present in an amount of from 5 to 40 wt % by total weight of the particle. A method of treating a substrate includes contacting the substrate with the composition and applying a releasing force to the hydrogel particle to release the silicone.
BENEFIT DELIVERY PARTICLE
A hydrogel particle, comprising: a) a matrix, and b) a silicone or blend or silicones, wherein the silicone or blend of silicones has an average molecular weight of greater than 400 Da, and wherein the particle has an average diameter of 0.1 to 15 mm and wherein the silicone is present in an amount of from 5 to 40 wt %, preferably from 25 to 40 wt % by total weight of the particle.

Chitosan-derivative compounds and methods of controlling microbial populations
The present invention is directed to chitosan-derivative compounds and structures, methods of making chitosan-derivative compounds and methods for controlling, inhibiting and enhancing microbial populations in a variety of environments. The present invention is also directed to the control, inhibition and enhancement of microbial populations in animals, particularly humans. The microbial populations include bacteria, viruses and other pathogens where control of microbial populations are a necessity. The chitosan-derivative compounds of the present invention include chitosan-arginine compounds, related chitosan-L/D unnatural amino acid compounds, chitosan-acid amine compounds, chitosan-L/D natural amino acid derivative compounds, co-derivatives of the chitosan-derivative compounds, salts of the chitosan derivative compounds, and chitosan-guanidine compounds.
CHITOSAN-CONTAINING ANTIPERSPIRANT COSMETIC AGENTS WHICH ARE FREE OF HALIDES AND/OR HYDROXY HALIDES OF ALUMINUM AND/OR ZIRCONIUM
The invention relates to an antiperspirant cosmetic agent which includes at least one specific chitosan and which is free of aluminum-containing compounds, in particular free of halides and/or hydroxy halides of aluminum and/or zirconium. The present invention further relates to the use of a specific chitosan and to a non-therapeutic method for reducing body perspiration. Adding or using the at least one specific chitosan ensures that the sweat gland(s) is/are effectively influenced, thus resulting in a significant reduction in underarm perspiration even in the absence of antiperspirant aluminum-containing compounds.
Combination of polyion complex particle and non-polymeric base having two or more dissociation constants
The present invention relates to a composition, preferably a cosmetic composition, and more preferably a skin cosmetic composition, comprising: (a) at least one particle, comprising at least one cationic polymer, at least one anionic polymer and at least one non-polymeric base having two or more pKb values or salt(s) thereof; and (b) at least one physiologically acceptable volatile medium. The composition according to the present invention is stable, and can have a variety of cosmetic functions.
