Chitosan nitrate for use as a nitric oxide donor (NO donor)
The present invention relates to chitosan nitrate for use as nitric oxide donor, in particular for use in the prevention or treatment of a condition related to NO deficiency in mammals, preferably humans. Suitable conditions to be treated with chitosan nitrate include disorders related to the skin, conditions related to sexual dysfunction, conditions wherein there is a need for pain treatment, conditions being a disorder related to the eyes, nose and sinus, conditions being a disorder related to the airways, conditions related to a gastro-intestinal disorder, and conditions being a metabolic disorder. These conditions were successfully treated or reduced by the application of chitosan nitrate according to the present invention. The invention also concerns a non-therapeutic or cosmetic method for skin protection and/or for healthy aging.
MYCELIUM BIOPOLYMERS FOR HEALTH AND BEAUTY APPLICATIONS
Topical applicators containing mycological biopolymers are suitable for applying health or cosmetic products to the skin or lips of a subject. The applicators are made from biodegradable mycological biopolymers that are grown from fungi in the presence of a growth medium under a predetermined environment of relative humidity, temperature, carbon dioxide, oxygen and air flow. The topical applicators containing the mycological biopolymers may further contain beneficial agents or products that that may be transferred to the skin or lips, thereby enhancing the health or beauty of a subject.
MULTI-COATED NANOPARTICLES COMPRISING MULTIPLE COATING LAYERS OF CHITOSAN AND POLYGLUTAMIC ACID, COMPOSITION FOR SKIN CARE COMPRISING THE SAME AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
Multi-coated nanoparticles including multiple coating layers of chitosan and polyglutamic acid, composition for skin care including the same, and method of manufacturing the same are provided. The nanoparticles have a liposome core layer and coating layers. The core layer includes a bioactive particle and a core hydrogel. Not only is it easy to mass-produce, but also has the effect of steadily releasing bioactive particles for a long period of time due to its high sealing rate and high stability.
ENVIRONMENTALLY BIODEGRADABLE MICROCAPSULES
Disclosed is a composition including controlled release particles, wherein each of the controlled release particles includes: (a) a core including at least one hydrophobic active ingredient; and (b) a wall at least partially surrounding the core and including the reaction products of: (i) an organofunctional silane; (ii) an epoxy; (iii) an amine; (iv) an isocyanate; (v) an epoxide curing agent; (vi) a basified biodegradable resin; (vii) a pre-reacted natural material resin; (viii) a pre-reaction product of polyisocyanate; wherein the controlled release particles are effective to retain the at least one hydrophobic active ingredient upon exposure to water and effective to release the at least one hydrophobic active ingredient in response to friction. A method for preparing the composition is also disclosed.
BIO-DEGRADABLE MICROCAPSULES
Bio-degradable microcapsules with a fragrance or odorant encapsulated therein during the polymerization process are provided. The bio-degradable microcapsules are of use in fabric care or personal care formulations.
Preparation for Attaching to Teeth or Surrounding Part of Teeth
The present invention provides a preparation for attaching to teeth or tooth peripheries, which comprises a malleable oral composition and an active ingredient for intra-oral delivery. Further, the present invention provides a preparation for attaching to teeth or tooth peripheries, which comprises an oral composition in a hardening ointment-phase and an active ingredient for intra-oral delivery. The preparation of the present invention may give high adhesive force to the desired site in spite of gaps between teeth or curves of teeth. The preparation of the present invention having high adhesive force increases the time of adhesion to a target site in the oral cavity, and thus may be advantageous in achieving an intended effect.
Preservative Compositions and Methods of Use Thereof
Antimicrobial preservative compositions that can be incorporated in products to be preserved are disclosed herein. The disclosed compositions include immobilized biocidal enzymes, such as cross-linking enzymes or active enzymes falling into the zymogen-class, for the purpose of modifying amino acid residues on a protein or binding a molecule of interest to a protein. The compositions include enzymes that are immobilized on a polymeric solid support, which improve the shelf life of the enzyme and protect the enzyme from auto-cross-linking or other deterioration over extended storage periods. Also disclosed are methods of increasing the self-like of products, such as personal care, household and industrial products, by incorporating an effective amount of the disclosed compositions into the product.
Water-soluble and/or water-swellable hybrid polymer
A water-soluble and/or water-swellable hybrid polymer comprising: (i) from 5 wt.-% to 95 wt.-% water-soluble and/or water-swellable polysaccharide polymer; (ii) from 5 wt.-% to 95 wt.-% synthetic polymer comprising: (a) from 40 mol-% to 99.9 mol-% repeating units according to Formula (1) ##STR00001## (b) from 0.01 mol-% to 5 mol-% crosslinking or branching units, wherein the crosslinking or branching units result from the incorporation of a monomer comprising at least two olefinically unsaturated double bonds; (c) from 0.01 mol-% to 88.51 mol-% of neutral structural units; (d) from 1.98 mol-% to 20 mol-% of anionic structural units, wherein the repeating anionic structural units result from the incorporation of a monomer comprising at least one carboxylate anion, and wherein the repeating anionic structural units are different from units (a);
wherein components (i) and (ii) are polymerized by radical precipitation polymerization in a polar solvent.
Non-pyrogenic preparation comprising nanoparticles synthesized by magnetotactic bacteria for medical or cosmetic applications
A non-pyrogenic preparation containing nanoparticles synthesized by magnetotactic bacteria for medical or cosmetic applications. The nanoparticles are constituted by a crystallized mineral central part including predominantly an iron oxide, as well as a surrounding coating without material from the magnetotactic bacteria.
ANTIMICROBIAL COSMETIC PREPARATION
A water-based anti-microbial cosmetic preparation comprising 0.025% to 3.2% of silver-chitosan dispersion by weight and not more than 10% of a non-ionic surfactant by weight. The preparation has a ratio of non-ionic surfactant to silver chitosan by weight of at least 0.2:1 to allow the silver chitosan to form a film on the surface of the skin. The preparation has a pH of between 3 and 6.5 to ensure that the silver chitosan to ensure that the preparation is tolerable on the skin and to ensure that the silver does not precipitate. The preparation does not contain an ionic surfactant in order to avoid precipitating the silver chitosan out of the preparation.
