Recyclable packaging film and article with mechanically pre-slit controlled tear line
A method of forming a flexible packaging film includes providing a first web including a polymer sealant layer, the first web having a first major surface and a second major surface opposite the first major surface. A second web including a polymer outer layer is provided, the second web having a third major surface and a fourth major surface opposite the third major surface. An adhesive layer is applied to the second major surface and the first web is laminated to the third major surface. Prior to laminating the first web to the second web, one or more slits are formed in the second web.
Hand-tearable masking tape with silicone-containing low adhesion backsize
A hand-tearable masking tape, comprising a plastic backing with a low adhesion backsize on the first major side of the backing and a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the second major side of the backing; wherein the second major side of the backing comprises a microstructured hand-tear pattern and wherein the low adhesion backsize comprises the reaction product of a mercapto-functional silicone macromer.
Multi-purpose labeling device
A labeling device that can be affixed to articles of different shapes by more than one method and can provide information regarding the contents of the article.
Reclosable flexible packaging and methods for manufacturing same
Flexible film packages having a partial, initial seal against ambient atmosphere and are easily openable and reclosable. The flexible film packages are generally resealable to extend the shelf-life or freshness of products contained therein once the package is initially opened. By one approach, the flexible film has two opposing edge portions that meet to form a longitudinal seal extending from a first end seal to a second end seal. The flexible film may have a score that defines a package opening. An elongated closure layer may extend over the score and may extend from a first end seal to a second end seal and within the opposing edge portions that form the longitudinal seal. The elongated closure layer may have a tack-free gripping portion used to release at least a portion of the elongated closure from the flexible film to form the package opening.
Linerless packing and shipping label system
A linerless duplex label system is operable to print and apply a linerless duplex label to a substrate. A plurality of linerless duplex labels are provided and each label includes a single-ply stock with top and bottom faces. The label also includes an endless adhesive border applied to the bottom face. The adhesive border is an unactivated, selectively activatable adhesive, such labels are overlaid on one another without any substantial adhesion therebetween. Each label may essentially be freely removed from the others, and the adhesive may thereafter be activated so that the label can be adhesively applied to the substrate.
Transparent material processing with an ultrashort pulse laser
A method for scribing transparent materials uses ultrashort laser pulses to create multiple scribe features with a single pass of the laser beam across the material, with at least one of the scribe features being formed below the surface of the material. This enables clean breaking of transparent materials at a higher speed than conventional techniques.
Packaging sheets and packaging materials
Packaging sheets, packaging material comprise one or more packaging sheets and related methods are provided herein. A packaging sheet can include a first substrate having a first surface and an opposing second surface. An adhesive layer can be applied on the first surface of the first substrate. A cohesive layer can he applied on the adhesive layer, such that the cohesive forms a first outer surface of the packaging sheet with the opposing second surface of the first substrate forming a second outer surface. The packaging sheets can, in some embodiments, comprise body bag sheets used to form body bags.
Wound dressing, ingredient delivery device and IV hold-down incorporating a statically retained handle member
Adhesive devices used as wound dressings, ingredient delivery devices and IV hold-downs include a handling layer comprised of a layer of conductive material and at least one layer of non-conductive material, adhered to the non-adhesive coated side of an adhesive coated polymeric film layer, by an electrostatic charge, rather than by an adhesive.
Microstructured tape comprising coextensive, intersecting paint-retention and hand-tear patterns
Tape backings with a first major side and an oppositely-facing second major side, wherein the first major side includes coextensive, intersecting microstructured paint-retention and hand-tear patterns; and, tapes including such backings, and methods of making and using such tapes and tape backings.
SELF-FUSING SILICONE TAPE FOR SENSING HYDROGEN AND HYDROGEN SULFIDE GAS LEAKS
This invention relates to a tape product, and method of manufacturing the product, which incorporates a gas sensing pigment that causes the tape to change color upon exposure to gases such as hydrogen or hydrogen sulfide. The gas sensing pigment is compounded together with a silicone rubber to produce a self-fusing silicone tape which may be applied in a variety of industrial environments where hydrogen or hydrogen sulfide gas leakage is a concern. The tape may be colored to enhance visibility and/or to indicate which hazardous gas it is intended to detect. The tape may be fiber reinforced with carbon fiber to increase its longitudinal strength for industrial applications. Periodic perforations across the width of the tape may be added to facilitate the tearing or cutting of convenient lengths of the tape.
