METHODS AND SYSTEM TO SHUTDOWN AN ENGINE
Systems and methods for operating an engine that is started via expansion stroke combustion are described. In one example, the method increases air flow through the engine during an engine stopping process so that a larger amount of air may be trapped in a cylinder that is on its expansion stroke so that greater amounts of engine torque may be provided during engine starting.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR TURBINE BYPASS
Methods and systems are provided for a turbocharger. In one example, a method may include bypassing exhaust gases flowing to the turbocharger in response to a catalyst temperature being less than a threshold temperature. The bypassing includes opening a bypass valve and adjusting a position of one or more turbine nozzle vanes.
VEHICLE
In a case where an engine is started based on a remote operation, a limitation condition for limiting an engine start is tightened or a stop condition after the engine is started is relaxed, as compared to a case where the engine is started based on a switch operation in an occupant cabin. That is, it is difficult to start the engine when the engine is started based on the remote operation, and it is easy to stop the engine when the engine is started based on the remote operation. As a result, it is possible to take more appropriate measures when the engine is started based on the remote operation.
CONTROLLER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
To provide a controller for internal combustion engine which can improve the estimation accuracy of the period in the chipped tooth section, even if the period is suddenly varied in the chipped tooth section. A controller for internal combustion engine detects a period when the tooth passes, based on an output signal of the crank angle sensor; determines a period corresponding to the chipped tooth section; determines a crank angle corresponding to the passed tooth; and estimates a period of a virtual unit angle interval when assuming that the tooth is provided at the unit angle interval in the chipped tooth section, based on the period of the chipped tooth section, the period before the chipped tooth section, and the period after the chipped tooth section.
Method for analysing the operation of an anti-pollution system for a motor vehicle
The present invention relates to a method for analysing the operation of an anti-pollution system for a motor vehicle (1) with an internal combustion engine, said vehicle (1) comprising at least one sensor for measuring (110) a parameter of the vehicle (1) and an analysis computation means (140) directly connected to said measuring sensor (110), said analysis computation means (140) comprising a memory area, said method being characterised in that it comprises a step for using the measuring sensor (110) to measure at least one parameter of the vehicle (1), a step for using the measuring sensor (110) to transmit at least one digital datum representative of the measured value of the parameter to the analysis computation means (140) and a step for using the analysis computation means (140) to compare said digital datum with a predetermined range of values representative of an operation of the anti-pollution system according to a predetermined standard.
Method of controlling a prime mover of a vehicle, apparatus for controlling a prime mover of a vehicle, and a vehicle comprising such an apparatus
Controlling a prime mover of a first vehicle following a first path is based, at least in part, on a likely speed behaviour of a second vehicle ahead of the first vehicle, which is estimated based on a predicted path of the second vehicle. At least one coasting profile for the first vehicle is estimated for at least part of the first path and/or the predicted path. At least one of the coasting profiles is determined that meets at least one predetermined coasting requirement. The prime mover may be controlled to place the vehicle into a coasting mode based on the determined coasting profile. Alternatively, feedback is provided to a user to put the vehicle into a coasting mode.
Cleaning system for a vehicle component
A cleaning system for removal of contaminants from a surface of a vehicle component exposed to a gas or fluid flow, the cleaning system comprising: an excitation device adapted to be attached to the vehicle component in the vicinity of the surface exposed to contaminants, wherein the excitation device is configured to cause the surface to mechanically vibrate by transferring a vibrational excitation to the surface; wherein the frequency of the vibrational excitation is controllable to be based on the configuration of the vehicle component as well as other modelled/measured parameters.
Exhaust gas purification catalyst device
The exhaust gas purification catalyst device includes an upper layer which includes first carrier particles and rhodium, and a lower layer which includes second carrier particles, and the upper layer includes a rhodium enriched area in the range a, from the upstream end in the exhaust gas flow to 50% of the upper layer length, and a range b from the upper layer top surface to 18 μm in the depth direction. The rhodium enriched area contains at least 50% and less than 100% of all the rhodium in the upper layer.
Energy-optimized forced regeneration of a particle filter of a hybrid vehicle
Various embodiments include a control system for the regeneration of a particle filter in an exhaust gas flow of an internal combustion engine of a hybrid vehicle including an electric machine comprising: a particle filter; a temperature sensor measuring an actual temperature of the filter; a first heat source upstream of the filter; and a controller. The controller is programmed to: determine a temperature difference between a setpoint temperature for regeneration of the particle filter and the actual temperature of the particle filter; calculate a power output difference to be applied based at least in part on the temperature difference; and control the first heat source using the power output difference.
Engine assembly and method
An engine assembly and a method of control thereof is provided. The engine assembly comprises: an exhaust gas aftertreatment device having an inlet for receiving exhaust gases leaving an engine; a heater for selectively heating gases at or upstream of the exhaust gas aftertreatment device; an air moving device for driving a flow of gases into the inlet of the exhaust gas aftertreatment device when the engine is in a non-running condition; and a controller configured to, prior to the engine being started: operate the heater to heat gases at or upstream of the inlet; and operate the air moving device to drive a flow of gases into the inlet to thereby heat the exhaust gas treatment device.
