LARGE SCALE PRODUCTION OF OXIDIZED GRAPHENE
Embodiments described herein relate generally to the large scale production of functionalized graphene. In some embodiments, a method for producing functionalized graphene includes combining a crystalline graphite with a first electrolyte solution that includes at least one of a metal hydroxide salt, an oxidizer, and a surfactant. The crystalline graphite is then milled in the presence of the first electrolyte solution for a first time period to produce a thinned intermediate material. The thinned intermediate material is combined with a second electrolyte solution that includes a strong oxidizer and at least one of a metal hydroxide salt, a weak oxidizer, and a surfactant. The thinned intermediate material is then milled in the presence of the second electrolyte solution for a second time period to produce functionalized graphene.
KETYL RADICAL INDUCED PHOTOREDUCTION OF GRAPHENE OXIDE; GRAFTING OF METAL NANOPARTICLES ON GRAPHENE BY PHOTOREDUCTION
Photoreduction of graphene oxide, by UV-generated ketyl radicals, to graphene. The photoreduction is versatile and can be carried out in solution, solid-state, and even in polymer composites. Reduction of graphene oxide can take place in various polymer matrixes. Methods for producing graphene-supported metal nanoparticles by photoreduction. Graphene oxide and a metal nanoparticle precursor are simultaneously reduced by the action of photogenerated ketyl radicals. Photoreduction is performed on polymer composite films in one embodiment.

BORON NITRIDE NANOTUBE ENHANCED ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS
Aligned high quality boron nitride nanotubes (BNNTs) can be incorporated into groups and bundles and placed in electronic and electrical components (ECs) to enhance the heat removal and diminish the heat production. High quality BNNTs are excellent conductors of heat at the nano scale. High quality BNNTs are electrically insulating and can reduce dielectric heating. The BNNTs composite well with a broad range of ceramics, metals, polymers, epoxies and thermal greases thereby providing great flexibility in the design of ECs with improved thermal management. Controlling the alignment of the BNNTs both with respect to each other and the surfaces and layers of the ECs provides the preferred embodiments for ECs.

Porous graphene for cathode of secondary battery and its manufacturing method
In the graphene manufacturing method, a graphite oxide is formed from graphite, and then the graphite oxide is treated with a hydrochloric acid. The hydrochloric acid-treated graphite oxide is reduced at temperature of 120° C. or above and 200° C. or below by performing thermal treatment thereto. Since a low-temperature process is used for manufacturing graphene by performing thermal treatment at a relatively low temperature for a short time, this method has great economic feasibility and utilization. Due to a simple composing process and low thermal treatment temperature, graphene may be mass-produced with a low price. In particular, the graphene may be used as a cathode material for a lithium secondary battery, which exhibits a high capacity at a high voltage of 2V or above by reacting with Li, different from an anode material of a lithium secondary battery.
