The first and second plates, when attached, define a cavity from an outer edge of the first and second plates to the substantially aligned apertures. A window containment arm is pivotally affixed to at least the first plate and configured to substantially fit and pivot into and out of the cavity, and a window contained within the window containment arm is positioned such that the window substantially aligns with the first and second apertures when the window containment arm is fully pivoted into the cavity, and such that the window is accessibly located outside of the cavity when the window containment arm is pivoted out of the cavity.

A brake apparatus (1) and method of operating the apparatus are disclosed. The apparatus (1) has a plurality of brake elements (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) with a combined thickness of Y. At least one of the brake elements (2, 3, 4, 5, 6) has a wear portion (22a, 22b) for tribological interaction with a wear portion (52b, 62a) of an adjacent element (5, 6) and is formed in two separable parts (21a, 21b) having thicknesses A.sub.1 and A.sub.2. The method includes operating an actuator (8) at an actuation extension length less than a maximum actuation extension length to cause the wear portions (22a, 22b, 52b, 62a) of the brake elements (2, 5, 6) to tribologically engage and thereby wear. This tribological engagement is such that as the elements (2, 5, 6) wear to a combined thickness of less than Y the extension length of the actuator is increased. A spacer (23) is inserted between the two parts (21a, 21b) of the brake element (2) to cause the wear portions (22a, 22b, 52b, 62a) to be tribologically engagable at a actuation extension length less than the increased actuation extension length.

In some embodiments, a protective apparatus for rotary control knobs may comprise a cover adapted fit over a rotary control knob; a knob cavity internal to the cover adapted to provide space for the rotary control knob to rotate about; and an access aperture located on the surface of cover member and adapted to provide limited user access to the rotary control knob. The cover member may be configured to encase or surround a control knob. The apparatus may further comprise a plate which may be integrally formed or molded to the cover and which contains a control shaft aperture adapted to receive the control shaft of a rotary control assembly. Once a control shaft is inserted through the control shaft aperture, a fastener may be secured to the control shaft over the plate, thereby securing the apparatus to the control shaft.

Multiple-slope or multiple-offset tool mechanism

Use of multiple-slope and/or multiple-offset mechanism or equivalent to address the issues with current mechanical clickers that have single-slope spring mechanism. The varying-slope can be a continuously varying-slope non-linear spring, or a combination of discretely varying multiple-slope springs. This inventior is useful for clicker type torque wrenches, clicker type torque screw drivers, beam type torque wrenches, beam type torque screw drivers and shock absorbers. The present invention is equally applicable to clickers that click in both the CW (clockwise) and CCW (counterclockwise) directions or clickers that click only in one direction. The invention is generally characterized by placing a non-linear spring or combination of springs in the tool body to achieve multiple slope operation rather than using one single slope spring.

A filter cartridge includes a media pack having first and second opposite flow faces; the media pack comprising flutes extending in a direction between the inlet flow face and the outlet flow face; a frame mounted on the second flow face of the media pack; a seal support section extending from the base member; and first and second opposite and spaced blades extending from the base member and in a different direction from the base member as the seal support section. The first and second blades are embedded within the media pack through the second flow face. A seal member is oriented against the seal support section. The filter cartridge can be removably oriented in a cassette. The cassette and filter cartridge are removably oriented in an air cleaner housing. The cassette may include lugs to help position the cartridge in sealing engagement with the air cleaner housing. In another embodiment, the filter cartridge is cassette-free and includes a cartridge-handle projecting therefrom.
