Device And Method For Improving Fixation Of A Medical Device
A device for improving the function of a heart valve comprises a first loop-shaped support, which is configured to abut a first side of the heart valve. A first flange unit is may be configured as a fabric sleeve covering the loop-shaped support. A portion of the fabric sleeve forms a flange that is attached to the annulus when said first loop-shaped support is abutting said heart valve. The flange is provideable by folding at least a portion of said sleeve over itself for forming a double layer of opposing fabrics thereof, such that said sleeve comprises a flange portion extending from said first loop-shaped support configured to overlap a surface of and form a collar around, at least a portion of said annulus.
Connection of electrodes to wires coiled on a core
A method for attaching an electrode to cabling, including providing a cable having a plurality of insulated wires coiled around a central core. The method further includes removing insulation from each wire in a set of the coiled wires so as to provide a respective access channel to a respective section of a respective conductor of each wire in the set while the respective section remains coiled on the central core. The method further includes fastening a respective electrode to the respective access channel while the respective section remains coiled on the central core.
High electrode density basket catheter
This disclosure is directed to a catheter having a basket-shaped electrode assembly with a high electrode density. The basket-shaped electrode assembly may have a plurality of spines, such as up to twelve, each with a plurality of electrodes, such as up to sixteen. Each spine may have cabling with embedded coiled wires such that each electrode is attached through the sheath to one of the wires.
Accessory units for consumer electronic devices and related assemblies
An accessory unit includes a front flap and a rear cover. The rear cover includes a recessed portion that defines a chamber and a frame that extends about an opening of the chamber. The chamber is configured to receive a consumer electronic device, and the frame is configured to hold the consumer electronic device therein. For example, the frame may define a multi-sided cross-section with an inner edge thereof configured to engage a chamfered edge of the consumer electronic device. The front flap may include segments formed from panels with folding regions therebetween, which allow the front flap to fold. Further, an end region of the front flap hingedly couples the front flap to the rear cover, such that the front flap may be moved between open and closed configurations.
Fabrication of nanofibers as dry adhesives and applications of the same
A dry adhesive including a non-woven fabric of nanofibers comprising a polymeric material. The nanofibers include an average diameter within a range of from 50 nm to 10000 nm, and the non-woven fabric of nanofibers has a thickness within a range of from 0.1 m to 100 m. The dry adhesive has a shear adhesion strength that is higher than the normal adhesion strength. Additionally disclosed is a dry adhesive fiber mat including substantially aligned fibers extending lengthwise from a first region to a second region, each of the fibers having a diameter that is less than or equal to 10 microns. The dry adhesive fiber mat is selectively repositionable to, from, and between a mechanically interlocked state wherein the fibers at the first region are intimately positioned within void spaces between the fibers at the second region and a separated state not intimately positioned as such.
MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR HIGH PRESSURE TANK
A manufacturing method for a high pressure tank includes preparing a liner including a cylindrical body portion and a pair of side end portions, forming a reinforcing layer by winding fiber-reinforced resin around an outer peripheral surface of the liner, carrying out shot peening by shooting a shot material towards an inner periphery region of a boundary between the body portion and each of the side end portions, and carrying out autofrettage after the reinforcing layer is formed and the shot peening is carried out. The autofrettage is carried out by applying internal pressure to the liner such that the liner is plastically deformed and then eliminating the internal pressure such that compression stress is applied to the liner.
APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR GRIPPING FLEXIBLE MATERIALS
A ceramic fiber processing apparatus and method for processing ceramic fibers for the manufacture of ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) is provided. The apparatus includes a frame including a plurality of unidirectional ceramic fibers wound thereabout and extending across a void therein the frame to define a first planar array of ceramic fibers and a second planar array of ceramic fibers. During use, the frame is disposed in the ceramic fiber processing apparatus in a manner to enable gripping of the first planar array of ceramic fibers with a first gripper assembly and gripping of the second planar array of ceramic fibers with a second gripper assembly. A cutting mechanism provides cutting of the plurality of unidirectional ceramic fibers to separate the first planar array of ceramic fibers and the second planar array of ceramic fibers from one another.
Process of debundling carbon fiber tow and molding compositions containing such fibers
A process for debundling a carbon fiber tow into dispersed chopped carbon fibers suitable for usage in molding composition formulations is provided. A carbon fiber tow is fed into a die having fluid flow openings, through which a fluid impinges upon the side of the tow to expand the tow cross sectional area. The expanded cross sectional area tow extends from the die into the path of a conventional fiber chopping apparatus to form chopped carbon fibers, or through contacting tines of a mechanical debundler. Through adjustment of the relative position of fluid flow openings relative to a die bore through which fiber tow passes, the nature of the fluid impinging on the tow, the shape of the bore, in combinations thereof, an improved chopped carbon fiber dispersion is achieved. The chopped carbon fiber obtained is then available to be dispersed in molding composition formulations prior to formulation cure.
Method of assembling a floating structure
In one aspect the invention provides a nut and tie rod assembly which includes a composite material tie rod defining a main shaft with an exterior surface. The tie rod is formed from reinforcing fibers encapsulated within a matrix material, and at least a portion of the exterior surface of the shaft defines an engagement structure. The assembly also includes at least one nut which includes an internal cavity with an interior surface defining an engagement structure which is complimentary to the engagement structure defined on the exterior surface of the shaft of the tie rod.
Advanced composite rim having molded in spoke holes
A composite rim is used in spoked wheels, such as bicycle wheels. The composite rims has molded-in spoke holes. The composite rim is manufactured using a unique fabricating technique. The construction of the composite rim dramatically improves the bearing and loading strength of the composite rim over prior composite rims, which drill the spoke holes therein after fabrication of the rim hoop.
