Method of preparing a therapeutic composition using a preparation from epidermal gel secretions of catfish
A method of preparing a therapeutic composition from the epidermal gelatinous secretion of catfish includes mixing catfish epidermal gel secretions (EGS) with phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.5) to provide an extract, homogenizing the extract to provide a homogenized extract, and centrifuging the homogenized extract to provide a soluble protein fraction and an insoluble protein fraction. The therapeutic composition can include about 87% soluble proteins and about 13% lipids.
Method of treating nerve damage
A method of treating damaged nerves can include administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a soluble protein fraction obtained by fractionating epidermal gel secretions of catfish to a patient in need thereof. The soluble protein fraction can include about 87% soluble proteins and about 13% lipids. The composition can be administered by intraperitoneal (IP) or sub-cutaneous (SC) injection.
Trypsin isoforms and their use
The present invention relates to the novel trypsin ZT isoforms. In particular, the invention relates to the use of trypsin ZT isoforms in medical devices, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Stapled intracellular-targeting antimicrobial peptides to treat infection
Structurally stabilized, e.g., stapled, peptides with the ability to translocate through microbial cell membranes to the interior of microbial cells and exert a biological activity there are provided, as are methods of designing, making and using such peptides.
Cosmetic compositions from fish hatching fluid
The present invention relates to pharmaceutical or cosmetic compositions obtained or obtainable from fish hatching fluid comprising polypeptides or portions thereof and the use of said compositions in various medical and cosmetic applications to the skin, particularly for moisturizing skin and/or for exfoliation of the horny layer of the skin for treating or preventing skin disorders or conditions in an animal.
METHOD OF CONSTRUCTING ZEBRAFISH notch1a MUTANTS
A method of constructing a zebrafish notch1a mutant using CRISPR/Cas9 technique. The method includes: determining a target for knocking out notch1a; using primers T7-notch1a-sfd and tracr rev for PCR amplification with a pUC19-gRNA scaffold plasmid as a template; transcribing PCR product in vitro followed by purification to obtain gRNA; and microinjecting the gRNA and a Cas9 mRNA into a zebrafish embryo followed by culture to obtain an notch1a mutant of stable inheritance. The invention selects a specific target and utilizes CRISPR/Cas9 technique to knock out the notch1a in the zebrafish without destroying other genes, generating the zebrafish notch1a mutant. Moreover, the invention also discloses the phenotype of the zebrafish notch1a mutant, which plays a significant role in studying the effect of the Notch1a receptor in the Notch signaling pathway.
METHODS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A COSMETIC COMPOSITION FROM HATCHING FLUID AND USES THEREOF FOR IMPROVING THE COSMETIC APPEARANCE OF SKIN
The present invention relates to cosmetic compositions obtained or obtainable from Salmonidae hatching fluid, methods of producing said compositions and their use in various cosmetic applications to the skin, particularly for reducing or preventing the cosmetic appearance or prevalence of wrinkles, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, laxity, dry skin, scaling and/or transepidermal water loss in skin of a mammalian animal.
Method for treating infertility
A method of treating infertility in males can include administering a therapeutically effective amount of a composition comprising a soluble protein fraction obtained by fractionating epidermal gel secretions of catfish to a patient in need thereof. The soluble protein fraction can include soluble proteins and lipids obtained by fractionating the epidermal gel secretions of catfish. The soluble protein fraction can include 87% soluble proteins and 13% lipids. The composition can be administered by intraperitoneal (IP) or sub-cutaneous (SC) injection or sublingual (SL). A method of preparing the soluble protein fraction can include collecting the epidermal gel secretion of catfish and preparing a soluble protein fraction having 87% soluble proteins and 13% lipids by weight.
