Erosion resistant coatings
An erosion resistant article such as rotor blades for helicopters and wind turbines having the leading edge surface protected from damage from high speed impingement of rain or sand with a protective coating formed from specific polyurethane or polyurea coating having a defined set of minimum physical properties where the protective coating can be applied as a liquid coating and cured in place or as a preformed complementary shaped covering to protect the leading edge against erosion damage in service.

A product according to one embodiment includes a first layer comprising a first material, the first layer having a gradient in composition, microstructure and/or density in an x-y plane, and the x-y plane being oriented parallel to a plane of deposition of the first layer. The first material includes non-spherical particles; and the product is optically transparent. A ceramic according to another embodiment includes a plurality of layers comprising non-spherical particles of a non-cubic material. Each layer is individually characterized by the non-spherical particles thereof being aligned in a common direction. A product in another embodiment includes a first layer having a first composition, a first microstructure, and a first density; and a second layer above the first layer, the second layer having: a second composition, a second microstructure, and/or a second density. A gradient in composition, microstructure, and/or density exists between the first layer and the second layer.
TEXTILE PRINTING PAPER FOR USE IN PAPER PRINTING METHOD
Provided is a textile printing paper for use in a paper printing method, which textile printing paper has an ability to produce a high-resolution image and enables favorable color development on a printing substrate and is excellent in adhesiveness of a printed paper to a printing substrate. The textile printing paper has a base sheet and a glue layer on a surface of the base sheet, the base sheet having a compression layer on at least a glue layer side, the compression layer at least comprising a pigment and a binder, wherein the base sheet has a compression ratio of 1.5 or more as calculated by the formula given below from the smoothness measured using a soft backing at clamp air supply pressures of 300 kPa and 2000 kPa according to JIS P 8151:2004.
Compression ratio=[smoothness of base sheet at 300 kPa]/[smoothness of base sheet at 2000 kPa]
FILM WITH LOW HEAT CONDUCTIVITY, REDUCED DENSITY AND LOW SOLAR ABSORPTION
The invention relates to a dark, flat element, preferably a plastic, lacquer coating or fiber material, having reduced density, low heat conductivity and low solar absorption. The flat element has a relatively high reflection infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum reduce heating by sunlight in the near infrared dark tinting in the visible range. Low density conductivity are obtained inter alia by inserting in the near in order to area despite and low heat light filling materials into the flat element. Said flat element can be used in places where surfaces are dark tinted for aesthetic or technical reasons but should not heat up in sunlight and should give off little heat when touched by hand or by other parts of the body. Other areas of application include surfaces which should have a heat insulating effect in addition to the above-mentioned characteristics.
HOUSING MATERIAL FOR ELECTRICITY STORAGE DEVICE
A packaging material for a power storage device, the packaging material being prepared by laminating at least a substrate layer, a metallic foil layer with an anti-corrosion treatment layer being disposed on one face or both faces thereof, and a sealant layer in this order, wherein the sealant layer comprises an associative organic compound having two or more associative functional groups and a hydrocarbon group having 4 or more carbon atoms.
METHODS OF THREE-DIMENSIONAL ELECTROPHORETIC DEPOSITION FOR CERAMIC AND CERMET APPLICATIONS AND SYSTEMS THEREOF
A method for forming a ceramic according to one embodiment includes electrophoretically depositing a plurality of layers of particles of a non-cubic material. The particles of the deposited non-cubic material are oriented in a common direction.
Wastewater purification with nanoparticle-treated bed
Nanoparticle-treated particle packs, such as sand beds, may effectively filter and purify liquids such as waste water. When tiny contaminant particles in waste water flow through the particle pack, the nanoparticles will capture and hold the tiny contaminant particles within the pack due to the nanoparticles' surface forces, including, but not necessarily limited to van der Waals and electrostatic forces. Coating agents may help apply the nanoparticles to the particle surfaces in the filter beds or packs.
COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS FOR THE PROTECTION OF SUBSTRATES FROM HEAT FLUX AND FIRE
A flame or heat flux protective coating composition, which includes a dispersion of fiberglass, hollow glass spheres, or a combination of both in silicone. A flame or heat flux protective sheet, which includes hollow glass spheres dispersed in silicone in a sheet form or fiberglass and silicone in a sheet form, wherein the fiberglass is dispersed in the silicone or the fiberglass is a woven cloth coated with the silicone is also presented. Articles incorporating the flame or heat flux protective coating or sheet form and methods for coating an article with the flame or heat flux protective coating composition are also presented.
High solids hBN slurry, hBN paste, spherical hBN powder, and methods of making and using them
The present invention relates to a method for making a hexagonal boron nitride slurry and the resulting slurry. The method involves mixing from about 0.5 wt. % to about 5 wt. % surfactant with about 30 wt. % to about 50 wt. % hexagonal boron nitride powder in a medium under conditions effective to produce a hexagonal boron nitride slurry. The present invention also relates to a method for making a spherical boron nitride powder and a method for making a hexagonal boron nitride paste using a hexagonal boron nitride slurry. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a hexagonal boron nitride paste including from about 60 wt. % to about 80 wt. % solid hexagonal boron nitride. Yet another aspect of the present invention relates to a spherical boron nitride powder, a polymer blend including a polymer and the spherical hexagonal boron nitride powder, and a system including such a polymer blend.
