Antenna integrated in a package substrate
An antenna integrated in a package substrate, the antenna comprising an upper antenna element, a lower antenna element and a coupling element disposed between the upper antenna element and the lower antenna element, the coupling element comprising an aperture, and configured to provide a coupling between the upper antenna element and the lower antenna element.
UHF-RFID antenna for point of sales application
A UHF-RFID antenna having a central segmented loop surrounded by passive dipole structures provides shaping of the electric and magnetic fields to reduce the number of false positive reads by a UHF-RFID reader at a point of sale.
Compact, multi-port, MIMO antenna with high port isolation and low pattern correlation and method of making same
An antenna includes a ground support, an electrically conductive, endless element mounted at a distance relative to the ground support, and a trio of ports arranged along the endless element for conveying radio frequency signals in an operating band of frequencies. The antenna is compact and has high port isolation and low pattern correlation due to successively spacing the ports apart along the endless element by a spacing of one-half of a guided wavelength at a center frequency of the operating band.
High-speed RFID tag assembly using impulse heating
RFID inlays or straps may be assembled using impulse heating of metal precursors. Metal precursors are applied to and/or included in contacts on an RFID IC and/or terminals on a substrate. During assembly of the tag, the IC is disposed onto the substrate such that the IC contacts physically contact either the substrate terminals or metal precursors that in turn physically contact the substrate terminals. Impulse heating is then used to rapidly apply heat to the metal precursors, processing them into metallic structures that electrically couple the IC contacts to the substrate terminals.
Methods of forming thin film resistors with high power handling capability
Designs and methodologies related to attenuators having a thin-film resistor assembly are disclosed. In some embodiments, the thin-film assembly can include a first and second thin-film resistor, each having a main portion with an input end and an output end. The input end of the first thin-film resistor is interconnected to the input end of the second thin-film resistors, and the output end of the first thin-film resistor is interconnected to the output end of the second thin-film resistor. The first and second thin-film resistors are disposed relative to one another so as to define a separation. The separation region reduces the likelihood of hot spot regions forming at or near the center of the thin-film structure and improves power handling capability for a given resistor width. Also disclosed are examples of how the foregoing features can be implemented in different products and methods of fabrication.
Introduction of discontinuities in an antenna to reduce harmonic activation
An arrangement for modifying a printed circuit antenna of the type used in mobile communication devices includes introducing one or more discontinuities into a printed circuit pattern of the antenna so that it is not activated at undesired frequencies. Examples of discontinuities include localized narrowing the printed circuit strip, localized widening of the printed circuit strip and localized changing of the shape of the printed circuit strip.
Wide-frequency wave-absorbing metamaterial, electronic device and method for obtaining wide-frequency wave-absorbing metamaterial
The disclosure discloses a wide-frequency wave-absorbing metamaterial, which comprises a plurality of layers of substrates and microstructures respectively arranged on the substrates at different layers. The wave-absorbing frequency band of the wide-frequency wave-absorbing metamaterial is relatively wide. The disclosure further discloses an electronic device and a method for obtaining a wide-frequency wave-absorbing metamaterial. By using the foregoing manner, the disclosure can enable a wave-absorbing metamaterial to significantly increase a wave-absorbing bandwidth based on a relatively good electromagnetic wave absorbing effect.
Broadband monopole antenna using anisotropic metamaterial coating
An antenna system is provided that includes an antenna having an elongated conducting segment, such as a metal rod. An anisotropic metamaterial surrounds the elongated conducting segment of the antenna. The presence of the metamaterial remarkably expands the VSWR <2. An example antenna is a monopole antenna, such as a quarter-wavelength monopole antenna, surrounded by the metamaterial.
Coaxial polarizer
A coaxial polarizer is provided. The coaxial polarizer includes an outer-conductive tube, an inner-conductive tube positioned within and axially aligned with the outer-conductive tube, and two dielectric bars each having a flat-first surface. The inner-conductive tube has two shallow-cavities on opposing portions of an outer surface of the inner-conductive tube. The shallow-cavities each have at least one planar area having a cavity length parallel to a Z axis and a cavity width, including a minimum width, perpendicular to the Z axis and to a radial direction of the inner-conductive tube. The flat-first surface has a dielectric length and width that are parallel and perpendicular to the Z axis, respectively. The dielectric length and dielectric width are less than the cavity length and the minimum width, respectively. The two flat-first surfaces of the respective two dielectric bars contact at least a portion of the respective two planar areas of the two shallow-cavities.
Waveguide and method for making a waveguide
A waveguide, printed circuit board and a method of fabricating a waveguide that includes: providing a ceramic powder and polymer binder slurry, and forming the waveguide from the slurry. The waveguide and a printed circuit that includes the waveguide are also described.
