In one embodiment the controller includes: (1) an interface configured to receive operating data and monitoring data from the water source heat pump and transmit control signals to components of thereof and (2) a processor configured to respond to the operating data or the monitoring data by operating at least one motor-operated valve of the water source heat pump via a control signal.

Method and apparatus for shipping and storage of cryogenic devices

An International Organization for Standardization (ISO) shipping container 10 includes a cryogenic refrigeration system 14 for cryogenically cooling superconducting magnet(s) 12.sub.A, 12.sub.B during transit. The cryogenic refrigeration system 14 monitors the temperature and/or pressure of the superconducting magnet(s) and circulates a refrigerant to the superconducting magnet(s) to maintain cryogenic temperatures in superconducting coils. A power supply 16, provided by a transportation vehicle, connects to the cryogenic refrigeration system via a power inlet 20 which is accessible from the exterior of the shipping container. The superconducting magnet(s) are suspended within the shipping container which is then loaded onto the transportation vehicle. The external power supply is connected to the cryogenic refrigeration system such that refrigerant is circulated to a cold head 22.sub.A, 22.sub.B of each superconducting magnet. Maintaining cryogenic temperatures during transit minimizes losses to any liquid cryogen or gaseous cryogen installed in the superconducting prior to transit.

Modular LNG production facility

The facility includes space-apart modules for installation at a production location to form a production train including a major axis and a minor axis, each module including a module base for mounting a plurality of plant equipment associated with a selected function assigned to the module, the module base including a major axis and a minor axis. Heat exchangers are arranged to run parallel to the major axis of the production train to form a heat exchanger bank including a major axis and a minor axis, where the major axis of the bank is parallel to the major axis of the train. A subset of the plurality of heat exchangers is arranged on a first level vertically offset from the base of at least one module.

Cooling device for a vehicle battery, vehicle battery assembly, and method for producing a cooling device

A cooling device for an automotive battery includes at least one coolant line and at least one separate pressing element which is designed to be elastic so as to press the coolant line against an exterior side, preferably a flat side, of the automotive battery. The pressing element is designed as a composite component which has a separately manufactured reinforcing component which is enclosed in a plastic material. A method for manufacturing the cooling device includes the acts of providing a reinforcing component, in particular an elastic metal component, manufacturing an elastic pressing element as a composite component by sheathing the reinforcing component with plastic material, and applying a coolant line to the composite component. The composite component is acted upon to press against the coolant line in the event of deformation perpendicular to the exterior side of the automotive battery to be cooled.

A heat exchanger including a header having a plurality of header openings with rigid tubes that may be made of plastic are inserted in the openings. The tubes are sealed to the header to prevent leakage between the header and the tubes to prevent water and air leakage between the wet, scavenger air stream flowing through the tubes and a dry air stream flowing around the tubes. A method of making the heat exchanger includes providing the openings with a flange and uses an interference fit between the rigid heat exchange tubes and the header openings. A self-leveling sealant may be used to seal the heat exchanger tubes to the header using, for example, a paint roller and/or a paint sprayer.

Controller, method of operating a water source heat pump and a water source heat pump

In one embodiment, a water system includes a compressor, a condenser fluidly coupled to the compressor by refrigerant tubing, a modulating motor-controlled valve configured to alter a flow of water through the condenser, an accelerometer mechanically coupled to the water system, and a water system controller. The water system controller may be configured to perform an automated anti-water hammer procedure. During the automated anti-water hammer procedure, the water system controller may be configured to activate an operating procedure for the water system, transmit a control signal to the modulating motor-controlled valve, receive vibrational measurements received from the accelerometer, compare the vibrational measurements measured by the accelerometer to a predetermined vibration level associated with the operating procedure, and adjust the opening position and opening speed of the modulating motor-controlled valve for the operating procedure if the vibrational measurements exceed the predetermined vibration level associated with the operating procedure.
