JOINING METHOD AND JOINING APPARATUS
A joining method is a method of joining a plate set composed by a plurality of stacked plate members including a first plate member and a second plate member by using a tapping screw. When the tapping screw is advanced into the plate set while the tapping screw is rotated in a state of applying a pressure onto the plate set so as to form through-holes in the first plate member and the second plate member, a first pressure applied onto the tapping screw is reduced down to a second pressure at the time when the tapping screw penetrates the first plate member.

Adaptive U-bolt joint stabilization process
An adaptive mechanical joint control and stabilization process and device having particular usefulness in mechanical joints employing U-bolts. The method and device monitors at least two predetermined metrics during a fastener tightening clampload cycle and compares the work expended in achieving a target limit value. Through examining the work expended through the monitored metrics, additional clampload cycles will automatically be run until the monitored work expended for all of the fasteners falls within predetermined values increasing the stabilization of the joint and further advantages of increased residual clampload. The process and device is useful in separating clampload cycles which form or yield the fastener from a final clampload cycle which properly elongates the fastener for a secure clampload and stabilized joint.
Apparatus and methods of installing and verifying installation of a seal member in a component
An apparatus for use in installing and verifying installation of a seal member in a component, and including a housing defining an interior sized to receive the component therein, and a moveable lid selectively positionable between a loading position and a sensing position. The apparatus also includes at least one seal sensor coupled to the moveable lid and configured to selectively align with a first sensing point on the component when the moveable lid is in the sensing position. The at least one seal sensor is configured to only actuate when pressed against the seal member positioned at the first sensing point.
Device and method for mounting a pharmaceutical application aid
A device (1) for assembly of a pharmaceutical application aid (51), particularly a pen, is proposed. The device (1) is characterized by a holding device (3) for fixation of a first housing sleeve (5) that accommodates a pharmaceutical container, particularly a carpule (23), and by a stop (43) for limiting a displacement of a second housing sleeve (35) relative to the first housing sleeve (5).
Connections with selectively variable dampening characteristics
Two or more vehicle components can be operatively connected with one or more fasteners configured to provide selectively variable dampening characteristics. The fastener can include a dampening unit configured to provide different dampening characteristics based on a torque applied to the fastener. In one or more arrangements, the dampening unit can provide different dampening characteristics based on an amount of compression the dampening unit is under. Target dampening characteristics between two or more components can be determined. A torque can be determined and applied to the fastener based on the target dampening characteristics. The torque can cause the dampening unit of the fastener to compress and provide the target dampening characteristics between the components.
Method for configuring a mandrel of a riveting tool for blind rivet elements and riveting tool
A method for configuring a hand-held riveting tool operated by an electric drive to set a blind rivet element in a setting operation. The hand-held riveting tool includes a mandrel configured to perform an axial movement so as to perform the setting operation of the blind rivet element, and a control unit which monitors the axial movement of the mandrel. The mandrel includes a front end position to which the blind rivet element is fitted in a form-locked manner and/or a force-locked manner. The method includes axially moving the mandrel from the front end position into a rear end position which is assumed at a beginning of the setting operation, and automatically adjusting the rear end position of the mandrel based on a parameter provided to the control unit.
Assembly system for monitoring proper fastening of an article of assembly at more than one location
A more reliable and fool-proof method and apparatus for assembling an article of assembly (e.g. with predetermined screw torque requirements) in which the article of assembly has multiple fastening locations. The method comprises holding the article of assembly fixed while providing at least two different types of targets fixed relative to the article of assembly that correspond to the individual fastening locations. Fasteners are fastened into the article of assembly at the fastening locations. When fastening is occurring at one of the fastening locations, one of the targets is being sensed. Based on the target sensed, a target output is generated that differentiates between different types of targets thereby indicating fastening location of the fastening tool. The electronic target output is used for electronic control such as for stopping a conveyor to keep the article of assembly at an assembly station until the fastening operations have been completed.

METHOD FOR CLAMPED JOINT SEATING DETECTION
A method for filtering data derived from a process wherein the data is generated by an input of energy. The method includes these steps: collecting the data from the process to create a parent data set; creating a first window of data; calculating an average of the first window of data; comparing the average of the first window of data to a first threshold value; shifting the first window if the average has not passed the first threshold value; creating a second window of data from the parent data set; calculating an average of the second window of data; comparing the average of the second window of data to the threshold value; shifting the second window if the average of the second window of data has not passed the threshold value; and confirming that the threshold value has been reached if the second window average has passed the threshold value.
