A system, in certain embodiments, has a composite seal with both a metal shell and an elastic core, such as an elastomer core. In one embodiment, the composite seal has an annular metal shell with a top, a bottom, and a seal interface disposed between the top and the bottom. The composite seal also has an elastomer disposed within the annular metal shell, wherein the elastomer is configured to impart pressure against the seal interface.

A method for forming a sealed floating roof for a storage tank is disclosed. A plurality of roof panels are positioned adjacent to one another such that respective depressions of adjacent roof panels disposed adjacent to one another form a walled trough at interconnections of the plurality of roof panels. A self-propelled automatic welder is positioned and guided within the walled trough to make a weld joint at the walled trough, and thus forming the sealed floating roof.

The filler material surrounds the plug and is configured to hold the plug in place. The plug is lighter than the filler material.

A scaffold includes a radiopaque marker connected to a strut. The marker is retained within the strut by a head at one or both ends. The marker is attached to the strut by a process that includes forming a rivet from a radiopaque bead and attaching the rivet to the marker including deforming the rivet to enhance resistance to dislodgement during crimping or balloon expansion.
