Machine tool and machining method

A machine tool includes: a joint portion processing control for controlling the processing of the joint portion in a joined workpiece such that a first workpiece is gripped by a grip section, and a predetermined region extending from a joint portion of a joined workpiece toward a second workpiece is processed over a range of not less than a predetermined width to have an outer diameter of not more than an outer diameter of the first workpiece; and a movement control for controlling the movement of the joined workpiece so as to slidingly move the joined workpiece relative to the support section, from a state in which the first workpiece is supported by the support section, up to a state in which the second workpiece is supported by the support section.

Compound machining method and apparatus

A method of machining a workpiece may include continuously rotating the workpiece, continuously rotating a tool having at least one cutting surface, and positioning the tool relative to the workpiece so that the at least one cutting surface engages the workpiece at a first discrete location at a periphery of the workpiece. The method may further include continuing to rotate the workpiece and the tool so that the at least one cutting surface engages a second discrete location at the periphery of the workpiece, and controlling a tool surface velocity VT relative to the workpiece surface velocity VW so that the first and second discrete locations are discontinuous. The tool may make multiple iterative passes over the workpiece to engage subsequent discrete locations, wherein the first discrete location, second discrete location, and multiple subsequent discrete locations may form a machined surface that extends continuously around the workpiece.

Method for machining metallic member using lathing and milling

A method for machining and finishing a metallic member to provide a finished product without any additional process uses a lathe and a milling process. A non-circular metallic member on a worktable is rotated, and lathe tool moved backwards and forwards to machine the peripheral top portion of the metallic member. The path of the lathe tool machines curved surfaces of the top portion of the metallic member. The rotation of the metallic member is then stopped, and a milling cutter is brought to meet the peripheral sidewall of the metallic member. The movement and feeding of the milling cutter is predetermined. The worktable rotates the metallic member to enable one end edge of the peripheral sidewall and then another to face the milling cutter, and have the end edge chamfered by the milling cutter.

Machine tool system

A machine tool system includes a machine tool including a processor to process a workpiece with a tool, and a bed on which the processor is mounted, a transport apparatus including two, left and right, legs spaced apart from the bed to transport the workpiece and feed the workpiece to the processor or discharge the workpiece from the processor, and a plate that connects the bed to the legs and is elastically deformable. The plate is upright such that a plate surface is aligned with a front-rear direction, and a connection portion of the plate that connects with the bed and a connection portion of the plate that connects with the legs are displaced in a front-back direction.

Processing machine and slide mechanism

A processing machine comprises: a cover that is provided with an opening and defines a processing area; a first door that is slidable between a first position in which the opening is opened and a second position in which the opening is closed; a second door that is disposed to overlap with the first door inside the processing area and slidable between the first position and a third position that is opposite to the first position with respect to the second position and in which the second door cooperates with the first door to close the opening; and a rail member that includes a grooved portion and an abutment that engage with the first door and is provided at the second door to allow the second door to slide with respect to the first door. The grooved portion and the abutment are disposed outside the processing area.

Machine tool

A machine tool includes a bed that includes a guide unit, a first structure and a second structure that are each mounted over the bed, a first drive unit that moves the first structure along the guide unit, and a protector that covers at least part of the first drive unit. The protector is extendable and retractable with movement of the first structure, at least one of the first structure and the second structure includes a protector housing portion that houses at least part of the protector, and the protector housing portion is a space that is provided in a base portion of at least one of the first structure and the second structure and opened in a movement direction of the first structure. Accordingly, structures such as a headstock and a tool post can easily approach each other and the convenience of machining a workpiece by a machine tool can be increased.

Apparatus for catching debris and deflecting coolant splash for use with computer numerical controlled machines

A deflector apparatus catches debris and deflects coolant spray in a coolant collection area of machine tools having an extended drawtube or bar feed area such as CNC lathes. The deflector apparatus encloses the coolant collection area by covering the opening or access to the area with a door and attached basket. The basket extends into the coolant collection area at an incline relative to the door and interrupts coolant and debris entering the coolant collection area from the drawtube, causing the debris to collect within the basket and allowing coolant to filter through a grate positioned on a lower surface of the basket. A flange with an outer seal extends along part of the lower edge of the door to create a seal between the door and the opening to the coolant collection area. Additional features include a locking mechanism, handle, and reinforcement plate.
