INFUSING DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS

The present disclosure includes systems, methods, and apparatuses for dispensing a volume (e.g., a volume of liquid or medication) during intraosseous infusion. In some embodiments, a resilient member is used to bias a portion of an arm towards a contracted position with a force sufficient to depress a plunger of a syringe, and a damper is used to resist movement of the portion of the arm from the extended position toward the contracted position to control a rate at which the resilient member can move the portion of the arm from the extended position toward the retracted position, and thereby limit the rate at which a volume is dispensed from the syringe. In other embodiments, a flow control valve may be used instead of a damper to limit the rate at which a volume is dispensed from the syringe.

AGENT ADMINISTERING MEDICAL DEVICE

A medical device comprising an enclosure defining a cavity for containing agent, a lumen for receiving a pressurized gas, and a barrier positioned between the cavity and the lumen, the barrier including at least one opening for storing agent, wherein rotation of the barrier relative to the lumen establishes fluid communication between the at least one opening and the lumen for delivering agent from the at least one opening to the lumen.

MEDICAL DEVICES FOR AGENT DELIVERY AND RELATED METHODS OF USE

A device may be configured to deliver an agent to a target tissue via pressurized fluid and the device may include a catheter including a lumen; an enclosure configured to store an agent, receive a pressurized fluid, and release a combination of the pressurized fluid and the agent; and a valve downstream of the enclosure to receive the combination of the pressurized fluid and the agent from the enclosure. The valve may have a first configuration preventing flow of the combination through the lumen and a second configuration permitting flow of the combination through the lumen.

A method of treating a patient by implanting a system comprising an infusion device for injecting a substance, at least one reservoir comprising at least one compartment which accommodates and preserves the substance to be injected, and an active cooling device adapted to cool the reservoir and thereby keep the substance within said at least one compartment of the reservoir at a temperature below 37 C. The method comprises the steps of: cutting the skin, dissecting free at least one area within the patient's body, placing the infusion device and the at least one reservoir inside the patient's body along with the cooling device, such that the at least one reservoir is in fluid connection with the infusion device to supply to the infusion device the substance to be injected into the patient's body, and closing at least the skin after implantation of at least parts of the system.
