Medicament application adapter comprising a gas blocking element for a hemodialysis tube set

For the administering of medicaments, an adapter is provided for connection to a haemodialysis tube set, which makes possible the direct connection of a standard injection vial to the extracorporeal circuit, avoiding the introduction of air into the circuit. The adapter has two conduit pathways. The conduit pathway for the application of medicament contains a gas-blocking element. The second conduit pathway serves for the aeration of the injection vial.

An orientation independent delivery device. The delivery device includes a gas chamber, a delivery chamber, a gas cell, and a delivery aperture. The gas chamber includes a gas-side rigid portion and a gas-side flexible barrier. The gas-side flexible barrier is sealed to the gas-side rigid portion. The delivery chamber includes a delivery-side rigid portion and a delivery-side flexible barrier. The delivery-side flexible barrier is sealed to the delivery-side rigid portion and is oriented adjacent to the gas-side flexible barrier. The gas cell is coupled to the gas-side rigid portion of the gas chamber. The gas cell increases a gas pressure within the gas chamber to expand the gas-side flexible barrier. Expansion of the gas-side flexible barrier applies a compressive force to the delivery-side flexible barrier allowing a delivery material to escape from the delivery chamber.

Volume measuring arrangement

In one aspect the present disclosure refers to a measuring arrangement for measuring of a volume change of a liquid medium located inside a liquid reservoir, the measuring arrangement comprising: a gas tight enclosure having an interior volume containing a gas reservoir and containing the liquid reservoir, wherein the liquid reservoir is filled with a liquid medium, a gas inlet in flow connection with the gas reservoir and extending through a boundary of the gas tight enclosure to an exterior of the gas tight enclosure, an outlet connectable with the liquid reservoir and extending through the boundary of the gas tight enclosure, wherein the gas reservoir and the liquid reservoir are hermetically separated by an impenetrable separation wall, and a flow meter arranged in or across the gas inlet to measure an ingress of a gaseous medium through the inlet in response to a withdrawal of the liquid medium from the liquid reservoir through the outlet.

Device, system and methods for the oral delivery of therapeutic compounds

Embodiments of the invention provide swallowable devices, preparations and methods for delivering drugs and other therapeutic agents within the GI tract. Particular embodiments provide a swallowable device such as a capsule for delivering drugs into the intestinal wall or other GI lumen. Embodiments also provide various drug preparations that are configured to be contained within the capsule, advanced from the capsule into the intestinal wall and degrade within the wall to release the drug to produce a therapeutic effect. The preparation can be coupled to a delivery mechanism having one or more balloons or other expandable devices which are expandable responsive to a condition in the small intestine or other GI lumen to advance the preparation out of the capsule into the intestinal wall. Embodiments of the invention are particularly useful for the delivery of drugs which are poorly absorbed, tolerated and/or degraded within the GI tract.

Provided is a system for dispensing fluid. The system includes a housing defining a chamber; an inflatable bag disposed in the chamber and adapted to contain a fluid, the bag being in fluid communication with a flow path for flow of the fluid out of the bag; and a pressure source for inflating the bag to force the fluid from the bag to the flow path at a controlled rate. The bag inflates against an inner surface of the housing such that, prior to the bag being fully inflated, the fluid contained in the bag is forced from the bag at the controlled rate.
