SYSTEM FOR DRAWING FLUID FROM A BAG UNDER SUB-AMBIENT CONDITIONS
A portable system and method for infusing liquid medicaments to a patient through an elastomeric fluid channel includes an airtight pressure shell for holding a collapsible bag of the fluid medicament to be infused. A pressure sensor connected to the pressure shell monitors decreases below ambient pressure inside the shell to determine when the sub-ambient pressure becomes insufficient to continue assisting the withdrawal of fluid from the collapsible bag to an external pinch/squeeze unit. An equilibration valve is synchronized with the pinch/squeeze unit to reestablish ambient pressure in the pressure shell for continued operation as the pinch/squeeze unit acts to sequentially push liquid medicament for infusion into the patient.
Diagnostic usages of short-lived radiopharmaceuticals
The present invention relates to the use of radiopharmaceuticals having a radioactive half-life of less than 21 minutes, such as oxygen-15 labeled water (H.sub.2.sup.15O) in blood flow imaging using PET (Positron emission tomography) scanning technology. The invention also relates to the use of a system for preparing and injecting boluses of such radiopharmaceuticals.
Fluid injector system volume compensation system and method
A system and method for correcting a volume of fluid delivered by a fluid injector during an injection procedure is described. The method included determining and compensating for a volume factor associated with compliance of the fluid injector system and correcting for the volume by one of over-driving the distance that the drive member travels in a fluid reservoir, under-driving the distance that the drive member travels in the fluid reservoir, or lengthening or shortening a fluid delivery time.
FLUID CONDUIT SYSTEM
In some examples, a conduit system includes a conduit defining a conduit lumen configured to provide a flow path for a fluid between a container and a medical machine. A flexible member secured to the conduit is configured to substantially occlude (e.g., close) the conduit lumen when deformed by a force acting on the flexible member toward the lumen. The conduit system includes a clamp head configured to pass through an opening defined by the conduit and exert the force on the flexible member, such that the flexible member occludes the conduit lumen. In examples, the conduit is substantially rigid conduit configured to provide a relatively constant geometry and/or flow path for the discharge of a nozzle.
NON-INVASIVE ANALYTE SENSOR AND AUTOMATED RESPONSE SYSTEM
Analyte sensing and response systems include a sensor detecting one or more analytes in a medium. The sensor uses decoupled transmit and receive elements or antennas to transmit a signal into the medium, and receive a response to the transmitted signal. An action that is based on the detection of the analyte is generated which can directly or indirectly affect the detected analyte in the medium. The action is automatically performed. The action can be increasing or decreasing flow from a source of the analyte, or of a chemical compound interacting with the analyte. An example of the action is controlling an insulin pump, where the analyte is glucose.
SCREW CONTROL MEDICAL FLUID FLOW MANIFOLDS
Fluid flow manifold assemblies for use in fluid flow sets are provided. The fluid flow manifold assembly includes a body having a main fluid channel, an inlet connector, an outlet connector and a drug port. A flow control assembly is disposed opposite the main fluid channel from the drug port. The flow control assembly includes a plunger, a seal member and a knob, wherein the plunger is disposed within the main fluid flow channel in a full open flow position and is configured to extend through the main fluid channel and be sealingly received by the drug port in a closed position, wherein the plunger position is based on rotation of the knob. Fluid flow sets with fluid flow manifold assemblies are also provided.
Delivery system and method for the effective, reliable and foolproof delivery of controlled amounts of a medical fluid
A method for performing a medical procedure requiring effective, reliable and foolproof delivery of controlled amounts of a medical grade gas to a patient includes providing a compressed gas cylinder having a weight with medical grade gas sealed therein of at least twelve grams and not greater than fifty grams. The method also includes connecting the compressed gas cylinder to an integrated compressed gas unit including a regulator valve assembly positioned between an outlet port and an inlet port, wherein the regulator valve assembly includes a press button actuator and regulator adjustment dial. A flow control system is secured to the compressed gas unit and the medical grade gas is delivered in precisely controlled amounts by actuating the compressed gas unit and operating the flow control system to deliver the medical grade gas to vasculature of the patient.
Adjustable medium diverter
A system for modulating delivery of a fluid medium includes an injector for injecting the fluid medium during an injection cycle, a delivery catheter including a conduit for delivering the fluid medium, a manifold disposed in a fluid medium flow path between the injector and the delivery catheter, and a pulsatile generator. The pulsatile generator is configured to apply a pulsatile force to the fluid medium defined by a plurality of duty cycles during the injection cycle, each of the duty cycles including a first pressure level and a second pressure level that is lower than the first pressure level.
Drug delivery assembly including a pre-filled cartridge
A drug delivery assembly includes a main body and a cartridge. The body includes a housing, an adhesive pad, and a body interface that detachably associates with a cartridge interface of the cartridge. A fluid flow path extends through the body housing, between a first end configured to open a seal of the cartridge and a second end configured to enter a human body. The cartridge contains a drug reservoir having an outlet and holding a medicament. The seal prevents the medicament from exiting the reservoir and maintains pressure within the reservoir until the seal is opened by the first end of the fluid flow path when the cartridge is coupled to the main body, placing the reservoir into fluid communication with the flow path. A controller actuates a valve within the body to selectively allow and prevent flow through the flow path during an automated drug delivery routine.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONFIGURABLE FLOW CONTROLLER
Provided is a configurable flow controller for providing a selected known flow rate for a given pressure for the delivery of a liquid from a reservoir to a patient. The configurable flow controller includes a modular housing providing an inlet port and an outlet port for connection to tubing. A user configurable flow path is disposed within the modular housing between the inlet port and the outlet port defined by a plurality of optional pathway segments including at least one fixed-geometry passive check valve, each optional pathway segment having a predetermined resistance to flow, a selected subset of the optional pathway segments establishing the selected known flow rate for the liquid passing from the outlet port. A kit and method of use are also provided.
