PIERCING CONNECTIONS FOR PRE-FILLED PLASTIC VIALS
20240058217 · 2024-02-22 ·

A pre-filled blow-fill-seal (BFS) vial can have a fluid seal at one end thereof that can be breached by a piercing element within a connector when a neck of the BFS vial is fully inserted into the connector. The piercing element can comprise or define one or more fluid conduits that allow fluid to flow from an interior of the BFS vial to an outlet port of the connector, thereby allowing the contents to be dispensed from the BFS vial. The connector can facilitate coupling of the BFS vial for subsequent administration of the contents therein to a patient. For example, the outlet port of the connector can be coupled to an administration assembly, such as a syringe, nozzle, intravenous (IV) therapy device, or another device.

Dental anesthetic buffer assembly
10493206 · 2019-12-03 ·

A dental anesthetic buffer assembly advantageously attaches to carpule-loaded syringe in the same manner as a standard disposable needle. The dental anesthetic buffer assembly, however, incorporates a pH-raising buffer that advantageously dissolves into and mixes with the carpule anesthetic during injection, in lieu of pre-mixing the buffer and anesthetic prior to injection.

Liquid administration device

A liquid administration device includes: a structure that includes: a cylindrical body including a bottom part in a distal portion and an opening in a proximal portion, a needle tube positioned in the distal portion of the cylindrical body, the needle tube having a sharp needle tip at a distal end, wherein a proximal end of the needle tube is communicable with an inside of the cylindrical body, and a gasket installed in the cylindrical body, the gasket being slidable in an axial direction of the cylindrical body; an operation member configured to perform a pressing operation by pressing the gasket such that a liquid is discharged from the needle tube; a pressing mechanism configured to generate a pressing force for pressing the gasket; and a pressing force transmission inhibiting mechanism configured to inhibit transmission of the pressing force to the gasket during the pressing operation.

Auto-injector assembly
10471209 · 2019-11-12 · ·

An auto-injector assembly comprises a medicament container defining a substantially cylindrical chamber containing a liquid medicament. A proximal end of the chamber is closed by a piston and a distal end of the chamber is closed by a seal spanning an opening. A biasing means, such as a spring, is coupled to the piston and acts to bias the piston towards the seal, thereby pressurizing the liquid medicament. The assembly also comprises a hypodermic needle and a removable needle cap for maintaining the hypodermic needle in sterile conditions until use. A means for establishes fluid communication between the chamber and the hypodermic needle such that the pressurized liquid medicament is automatically delivered through the hypodermic needle when communication has been established.

Discharger with improved piercing tip

A discharger for discharging fluid includes a sleeve, a discharge section, a carriage including a receiving space disposed therein, the carriage cooperating with a proximal end of the sleeve such that the carriage is moveable relative to the sleeve, and a piercing tip having a flow channel configured to establish a flow connection for the fluid from the receiving space to an inlet of the discharge section, the piercing tip having a shell surface, the piercing tip being integrally formed with at least a portion of the sleeve or formed as a unitary separate piece linked with at least the portion of the sleeve, the shell surface of the piercing tip having a convexly curved configuration, and the sleeve surrounding a proximal end of the discharge section and having an outer diameter that is substantially the same as the inner diameter of the carriage.

Cartridge insertion mechanism for a fluid delivery device
11951279 · 2024-04-09 · ·

A fluid delivery device comprises a drive unit including an actuator and one or more first features and a cartridge filled with a fluid prior to being inserted into the housing. The cartridge having a fluid reservoir sealed at one end by a movable piston and sealed at another end by a pierceable septum. The cartridge includes one or more second features that are configured to align and mate with the one or more first features allowing the cartridge to be inserted into the drive unit. The piston is moveable by the actuator once the cartridge is inserted into the drive unit.

Syringe
10434256 · 2019-10-08 · ·

A syringe includes a hollow body, a piston and a seal. The hollow body has a surrounding hollow body surface and forms a passage therein. An axis is formed in an axial longitudinal direction of the hollow body and the passage has a rear body opening and a front body opening arranged opposite to one another in the longitudinal direction. A first needle seat is formed at the front body opening, in which a needle cannula is arranged and relative to which the needle cannula is movable along the axis. The piston is arranged in the hollow body and is movable in the passage along the axis. The seal is able to be cancelled such that a receiving chamber and a supply space of the syringe are in flow communication in a release position.

Needle Arrangement
20190298936 · 2019-10-03 ·

The present disclosure relates to a needle arrangement for a drug delivery device. The needle arrangement includes a distal needle tip and a proximal needle tip. The distal needle tip is held in a distal needle holder and wherein the proximal needle tip is held in a proximal needle holder. The distal needle tip and the proximal needle tip are in fluid communication with each other through a fluid channel. The fluid channel is adapted to allow axial movement of the distal needle tip and relative to the proximal needle tip between a compact state and an extended state. A length of the needle arrangement over the distal needle tip and the proximal needle tip in the extended state is greater than in the compact state.

Dose divider syringe

A syringe includes a barrel having an internal surface defining an internal bore therein; a plunger having a distal end disposed within the internal bore of the barrel, and a proximal end disposed outside the internal bore of the barrel, the proximal end of the plunger being opposite the distal end of the plunger along a longitudinal direction; and a dose divider. The dose divider includes a divider flange extending at least partly in a radial direction, the radial direction being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the divider flange having a distal surface that faces the barrel, the distal surface of the divider flange bearing on the proximal end of the plunger, and a concave shell extending away from the distal surface of the divider flange along the longitudinal direction.

Portable Drug Mixing and Delivery Device and Associated Methods

A portable auto-injector configured to store a dry medication separately from a liquid component, wherein removal of a cap opens a rotary valve allowing for the initiation of a mixing step prior to injection. An extendable needle guard is provided over the delivery assembly which prevents premature injection as well as inadvertent sticks or other cross contamination of a needle. The needle guard can also form part of a secondary trigger mechanism which injects the reconstituted drug after the mixing stage is complete.
