SYRINGE ADAPTER FOR MEDICATION
20210369980 · 2021-12-02 ·

Improved apparatus for use with medication in fluid form, which is particularly beneficial for medications having a relatively high viscosity. The disclosed syringe adapter has an opening that is relatively large, as compared to a conventional needle, and thus affixing the disclosed syringe adapter to a syringe improves syringeability of higher-viscosity medications. Some embodiments feature a lateral extension that prevents inserting the syringe adapter too far into a medicine bottle, and some embodiments feature a component that assists in firmly grasping. When the disclosed syringe adapter is affixed to a pistol-grip or tab-handled syringe, the medication withdrawn into the pistol-grip syringe can be more easily administered from the syringe barrel. In some embodiments, the syringe adapter will be replaced with a needle prior to injecting the medication, while in some other embodiments, the needle is affixed to the in-place syringe adapter for the injection.

20220203037 · 2022-06-30 ·

A syringe with plunger reaction pressure reduction structure is proposed. The syringe includes: a barrel including a finger grip at a rear end thereof and a Luer-lock connector in which a thread portion is formed on an inner surface outside a tapered tube of a front discharge end thereof; a plunger rod configured to be inserted in an inside of the barrel and including a push end at a rear end thereof; a plunger coupled to a front end of the plunger rod; and a needle hub configured to be screwed with the Luer-lock connector and including an injection needle mounted to a front end thereof. The syringe is configured to have a three-step structure at the plunger in which intervals between steps are gradually shortened, so that the reaction pressure applied to the plunger is distributed and the injection is easily performed.

PRE-FILLED SYRINGE WITH OPTIMIZED STOPPER PLACEMENT
20220193346 · 2022-06-23 ·

A pre-filled syringe includes a barrel with a medicament and a stopper within the barrel. The stopper has at least two adjacent sealing rings and a trim ring. The syringe has a head space distance between a distal-most surface of the stopper and the surface of the medicament. The head space (a) provides sufficient space to optimize reconstituting a drug suspension by shaking or agitating the drug suspension, and (b) minimizes frothing and/or clogging of the reconstituted drug suspension in the barrel. Also, a kit includes the syringe, a plunger, a syringe cap, and a needle assembly. Further, a method for stoppering the syringe includes determining the head space distance.

Ophthalmic device

An ophthalmic device including a cannula having a cannula distal end, a lumen, and one or more orifices coupled to the lumen is provided. The cannula is configured to deliver a fluid. A sleeve is disposed around the cannula and has a sleeve distal end. A handle is coupled to the sleeve and the cannula, the handle having an actuator. An internal mechanism is coupled to the actuator and configured to retract the sleeve relative to the cannula. The internal mechanism includes a follower fixedly coupled to the sleeve and moveable between distal and proximal positions, and a release member movable between an activated position and a release position. The release member is coupled to the actuator and configured to release a force that urges the follower from the distal position to the proximal position when the release member moves from the activated position to the release position.

GRIP FOR MOUNTING A CYSTOTOME TO A SYRINGE, AN ASSEMBLY THEREOF, AND A METHOD RELATED THERETO
20220176043 · 2022-06-09 ·

In one aspect of the subject invention, a grip is provided for mounting to a syringe, the grip including: an elongated body extending along a longitudinal axis between first and second ends, the first end defining a female luer fitting configured for mounting onto the syringe, an inlet opening being defined in the female luer fitting, the second end defining a male luer fitting defining an outlet opening, and, a liquid passageway defined through the body between the inlet opening and the outlet opening to allow liquid flow therebetween. The body further defines an outer surface encircling the longitudinal axis, the outer surface being at least partially textured. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a grip is provided which is configured to both mount to a syringe and to mountingly receive a cystotome, in providing an enhanced gripping surface for a practitioner performing a capsulotomy.

System and method for mixing and delivering a solution
11351092 · 2022-06-07 ·

A device for mixing and delivering a solution includes a tubular barrel that includes a first end, a second end, and interior compartment. A first plunger is positionable at the first end of the barrel, is moveable within the interior compartment of the barrel, and includes a spike protruding into the interior compartment, the spike having an end configured for piercing a membrane. A second plunger is positionable within the barrel, is also moveable within the interior compartment of the barrel, and has a pierceable membrane. The second plunger and the second end form a first area within the barrel for housing a first solution to be mixed and the first and second plungers form a second area within the barrel for housing a second solution to be mixed. The first and second plungers are slidably arranged within the interior area of the tubular barrel such that moving the first plunger toward the second plunger causes the spike to pierce the pierceable membrane and push the second solution through the pierced membrane to mix with the first solution in the first area.

Drug delivery device

A drug delivery device includes a blunt cannula and a reservoir. The blunt cannula has a cylindrical wall that defines an axial passage between a first end and a second end of the blunt cannula. The wall has at least a first tapered region at the first end to define an opening in fluid communication with the axial passage and adapted at the first end to resist interruption of fluid flow through the axial passage and out of the first end of the blunt cannula. The reservoir is connected to the second end of the blunt cannula.

Flush syringe with disinfecting feature

Flush syringe assemblies are described herein. Such flush syringe assembly may include a barrel including a side wall defining a chamber, an open proximal end, a distal end having a distal wall with an elongate tip extending distally therefrom having a passageway therethrough in fluid communication with said chamber. A collar may be mounted on the distal wall of the barrel and surrounding the elongate tip. A disinfectant-loaded swab may be disposed in the collar. The flush syringe assembly may also include a removable cap.
