Drive mechanisms suitable for use in drug delivery devices

A drive mechanism suitable for use in drug delivery devices is disclosed. The drive mechanism may be used with injector-type drug delivery devices, such as those permitting a user to set the delivery dose. The drive mechanism may include a housing, a dose dial sleeve, and a drive sleeve. A clutch is configured to permit rotation of the drive sleeve and the dose dial sleeve with respect to the housing when the dose dial sleeve and drive sleeve are coupled through the clutch. Conversely, when the dose dial sleeve and drive sleeve are in a de-coupled state, rotation of the dose dial sleeve with respect to the housing is permitted and rotation of the drive sleeve with respect to the housing is prevented. In the de-coupled state, axial movement of the drive sleeve transfers force in a longitudinal direction for actuation of a drug delivery device.

VARIABLE SINGLE DOSE INJECTOR

A medicament delivery device configured to provide a variable single dose of medicament is disclosed. The medicament delivery device includes a main body and a syringe arranged in the main body, where the syringe comprises a medicament. The medicament delivery device further includes a delivery member shield unit slidably arranged in the main body and a removable cap releasably coupled to the delivery member shield unit. The medicament delivery device also includes a dose knob configured to rotate with respect to the main body for setting a dose of the medicament. Prior to a dose of the medicament being set, the delivery member shield unit and the removable cap are axially locked with respect to the main body. Further, after a dose of the medicament is set, the delivery member shield unit and the removable cap are axially moveable with respect to the main body.

Injection device

An injection device has a plunger for displacing a stopper in a syringe or carpule, a holder for the plunger, a drive for the axial displacement of the holder of the plunger, and a control device functionally assigned to the drive. The plunger, or at least a subcomponent thereof, relative to the holder, the holder is able to move over a limited distance relative to the plunger or a subcomponent thereof, opposing a pretensioning force, in that a sensor device is included which detects the relative position of the plunger, or at least a subcomponent thereof, relative to the holder, which comprises at least one sensor element which works together with the control device. The control device is designed such that, upon activation of the sensor element, the speed of advancement of the holder of the plunger is at least reduced.

CARTRIDGE FOR DOSAGE SENSING

An injection device is provided, comprising a cartridge configured to hold a volume of fluid, the cartridge having a proximal end and a distal end through which the fluid is dispensed; a first stopper disposed in the cartridge and configured to move from the proximal end toward the distal end to cause the fluid to be dispensed through the distal end of the cartridge; a second stopper disposed at the distal end of the cartridge, the second stopper including an aperture through which the fluid is dispensed; a reflector disposed at the distal end of the cartridge; and a transmitter and a receiver disposed in the first stopper, the transmitter configured to transmit one or more waves toward the reflector and the receiver configured to receive reflections of the one or more waves from at least the reflector.

Feedback Mechanism for an Injection Device

A feedback mechanism for an injection device that is configured to deliver a medicament to a user is described. The feedback mechanism comprises an actuator and a fluid chamber having a restricted outlet. The actuator is adapted to urge fluid from the fluid chamber through the restricted outlet. The feedback mechanism also has an indicator that is adapted to provide feedback to the user after a predetermined volume of fluid has passed from the fluid chamber through the restricted outlet during use of the injection device.

A PREFILLED INJECTION DEVICE WITH CLEANING CHAMBER

The invention relates to an injection device comprising an End-of-Content mechanism. The End-of-Content mechanism comprises a piston rod (10) being driven forward by a rotatable piston rod guide (20), a driver (50) attached to a dose setting tube (30) and an End-of-Content tube (40). The End-of-Content tube is moved axially forward during dose setting a distance which correlates to the size of the dose being set. When the accumulated set and ejected dose equals the injectable amount initially available in the cartridge (3), the End-of-Content tube engages a lock mechanism provided in the piston rod guide and the driver engages a stop surface on the End-of-Content tube. Once the End-of-Content mechanism is locked, no further dose can be set and the piston rod guide cannot be rotated. In order to provide a proper engagement between the piston rod guide and the driver, the End-of-Content mechanism is released during dose expelling.

DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MEDICAMENT DELIVERY

A method includes moving an actuation lock of a medical injector from a first position to a second position. The actuation lock has an extended portion disposed between a shoulder of a housing and the base when the actuation lock is in the first position. The extended portion is spaced apart from the base when the actuation lock is in the second position. A distal end portion of a base, which is movably coupled to an end portion of the housing, is placed into contact with a body. The base is actuated after the placing to release an energy from an energy storage member within the housing to produce a force to move a needle from a first needle position to a second needle position. At least a portion of the needle extends through the base when the needle is in the second needle position.

System and method for drawing a solution

A system for drawing a solution is provided. The system includes a filter, a vacuum source, and an actuator. The filter has an input port, a first output port, a second output port, and a flow path defined in part by the input port and the second output port. The vacuum source is in fluid communication with the first output port and operative to apply a vacuum to the flow path. The actuator is operative to facilitate movement of the solution along the flow path.
