A pen needle outer cover (10) has a molded plastic distal cover (20), and a molded plastic proximal cover (22) in place of the conventional paper-foil label. The proximal cover (22) may be snap-fit over the opening of the distal cover (20). A user-separable section (26) with a finger pull tab (32) is defined by a reduced-thickness membrane (24), which functions as a tear line to allow that section (26) to at least partially separate from the proximal cover (22). A living hinge (27) may be provided to keep the user-separable section (26) from completely separating from the proximal cover (22). The finger pull tab (32) may be configured to enable re-covering of a pen needle (30) that is still within the outer cover (10).

A safety needle assembly having a first hub attached to a flexible tube and a second hub attached to a needle projecting through the flexible tube. A needle guard is positioned in an interior cavity of the first hub. The needle guard has a proximal wall having an opening and two arms each with an end and wherein the two ends spaced from and biased toward the needle in a ready position. In a particular example, a support is located inside the cavity of the first hub and wherein the two ends of the two arms on the needle guard rest on the support in the ready position.

Waste disposal system and waste receiver for receiving and disposing of pharmaceutical waste material

A waste disposal system with a waste receiver for receiving pharmaceutical waste material. A locking assembly is secured to a fixed surface and actuated from a locked configuration to an unlocked configuration. A lock cylinder of the locking assembly may extend forward of a front wall of a receiver body of the waste receiver to engage a locking feature of the cover in the locked configuration. A cover retention feature may prevent axial decoupling of the cover from the receiver body. An engagement feature is moved to be disengaged from the receiver body, and the receiver body is moved away from the fixed surface to disengage the locking assembly from the cover. The cover is decoupled from the cover retention feature, and coupled with the receiver body to seal the pharmaceutical waste material. The locking assembly may be removed from a lock passageway for disposal of the waste receiver.

A container (10) for storing new and used pen needles (20,30), the container (10) comprising a housing (12) including a first compartment (50) configured to store one or mom new pen needles (20), and a second compartment (52) configured to store one or more used pen needles (30), wherein the first and second compartments (50,52) are inversely adjustable in size to accommodate various combinations of new and used pen needles (20, 30).

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR SHARPS PROTECTION
20210069430 · 2021-03-11 ·

Devices and methods are disclosed for protecting individuals from the sharp ends of medical objects following use on a patient. Such sharp objects include hypodermic needles, scalpel blades, cannulae, trocars, and the like. The protective cover is designed to surround and sequester the sharp in a shell that is will not permit further puncture or cutting with the sharp. In an embodiment, the protective cover also absorbs any fluids on or in the used sharp and prevents any fluids from escaping the protective cover. The devices are configured to be integral to procedure trays or kits such that space and discarded materials are minimized along with the potential for injuring someone with a used, contaminated medical sharp.

A data-enabled syringe collection container. The data-enabled syringe collection container may include an upper inlet body; a container body coupled to the upper inlet body; an electronics module configured for sensing and tracking dose events, the electronics module coupled to at least one of the upper inlet body or the container body; and wherein the upper inlet body may include an inlet lid; a first opening; an entry channel; and a receiving assembly including a dropout door, and wherein the inlet lid is configured for covering and accessing the first opening, the entry channel is configured to provide a passage way from the first opening to the receiving assembly, and the dropout door is configured to allow passage through a second opening into the container body.

SINGLE USE DELIVERY DEVICE
20210030965 · 2021-02-04 ·

The invention is a single use delivery device configured to enable reconstitution of a lyophilized agent (e.g., vaccine, drug, medicament, etc.) stored within for subsequent delivery of the reconstituted fluid agent to a patient in a controlled manner and without requiring specialized skill in reconstituting the agent or administering delivery of such agent. The delivery device is prefilled with an individual dose of a lyophilized agent and configured to be filled on-site and in the field with a dose of diluent for reconstitution of the lyophilized agent, while remaining sterile and preventing the potential for contamination during the filling process. The delivery device is further configured to be rendered incapable of reuse followings its intended use of delivering the fluid agent to a patient, thereby preventing reuse of the device and reducing the risk of the spreading blood-borne diseases through reuse.
