ISOLATION OF MAGNETIC LAYERS DURING ETCH IN A MAGNETORESISTIVE DEVICE

Methods for manufacturing magnetoresistive devices are presented in which isolation of magnetic layers in the magnetoresistive stack is achieved by oxidizing exposed sidewalls of the magnetic layers and then depositing additional encapsulating material prior to subsequent etching steps. Etching the magnetic layers using a non-reactive gas further prevents degradation of the sidewalls.

Providing vehicles with electric energy by magnetic induction

An arrangement for providing a vehicle with electric energy, wherein the arrangement includes a generating device for inducing an alternating electric current by magnetic induction in a corresponding receiving device, wherein the arrangement comprises a base to which the generating device is attached, the base defines a vehicle location an elevated region sideways of the vehicle location, wherein an upper surface of the elevated region is elevated compared to an upper surface of the base under the vehicle location, an elongated profile includes an electrically conducting material and/or a magnetizable material, wherein the elongated profile is attached to the elevated region and extends along an extension of the generating device in a longitudinal direction of the arrangement and wherein an elevated profile extends upwards towards a level of the upper surface of the elevated region and also extends towards the vehicle location.

An electrostatically tunable magnetoelectric inductor including: a substrate; a piezoelectric layer; and a magnetoelectric structure comprising a first electrically conductive layer, a magnetic film layer, a second electrically conductive layer, and recesses formed so as to create at least one electrically conductive coil around the magnetic film layer; with a portion of the substrate removed so as to enhance deformation of the piezoelectric layer. Also disclosed is a method of making the same. This inductor displays a tunable inductance range of >5:1 while consuming less than 0.5 mJ of power in the process of tuning, does not require continual current to maintain tuning, and does not require complex mechanical components such as actuators or switches.

Process to inhibit slider contamination during processing

Methods for forming a slider for a disc drive. One method includes forming a plurality of sliders on a wafer, applying a self-assembled monolayer coating on the plurality of sliders, and cutting the plurality of sliders into a plurality of individual sliders. Another method includes forming a plurality of sliders on a wafer, applying a low surface energy coating on the plurality of sliders, and cutting the plurality of sliders into a plurality of individual sliders.

Magnetic recording head having protected reader sensors and near zero recession writer poles

An apparatus according to one embodiment includes a module having first and second transducers of different transducer types positioned towards a media facing side of the module. The apparatus also includes a first protection structure for protecting the first transducer. The first protection structure includes a recessed portion of the media facing side adjacent the first transducer. The second transducer is protected by a second protection structure that is different than the first protection structure. The second protection structure includes a recessed portion of the media facing side adjacent the second transducer. An extent of recession of the recessed portion of the media facing side adjacent the second transducer is not as great as an extent of recession of the recessed portion of the media facing side adjacent the first transducer.

Compact transformer bushing

A compact electrical bushing has a separate insulating end cap removably attached to the shaft of the bushing at an end used for mounting a current transformer. The removably attached insulating end cap has a large outer diameter that increases the linear surface distance of the bushing. The outer diameter may be determined in a predefined manner based on the desired length of the shaft, and vice versa, with a larger outer diameter corresponding to a shorter shaft. The increased linear surface distance allows the bushing to meet minimum tracking distance with a shorter shaft relative to existing bushings. The shorter shaft reduces the footprint of switchgear and other electrical isolation equipment to which the bushing may be connected. The insulating end cap may be removed from the bushing as needed to allow the current transformer to be slid onto the bushing without having to pass over the end cap.

This invention relates to a solid-state drive housing, a solid-state disk using the same and an assembling process thereof. The present invention is capable of preventing the unauthorized disassembly of the consumer. The solid-state drive housing comprising a upper cover and a basement, where the lower casing has a plurality of first hollows, the upper cover has a second base and a plurality of fastening structures one pieced formed therewith, part of the end of the fastening structures are bent and disposed in the corresponding first hollows so as to secure the second member with the first member. By the novelty assembling process provided by the present invention, the user may secures the upper cover and the lower casing without the screw liked fasteners and completes the assembly in only a few quick steps, meanwhile, the present invention is also capable of preventing the unauthorized disassembly of the consumer.

METHODS FOR FORMING SHIELD MATERIALS ONTO INDUCTIVE COILS

Methods of and systems for directing flux from a transmit coil to a receive coil within an inductive power transfer system are disclosed. For example, a transmit coil may be shielded with a contoured shield made from a ferromagnetic material. The contoured shield may contour to several surfaces of the transmit coil so as to define a single plane through which flux may be directed to a receive coil.
