Layered heater system having conductive overlays

A layered heater includes a resistive layer formed from a conductive material and separated into an intermediate area and a resistive circuit pattern by a plurality of cuts that extend all the way through the resistive layer. The resistive circuit pattern includes termination pads electrically connected to the resistive circuit pattern with the intermediate area being electrically inactive. A conductive overlay is disposed over a continuous portion of the resistive circuit pattern. The plurality of cuts extend longitudinally into the conductive overlay such that no portion of the resistive pattern is present outside the conductive overlay.

An indirectly heated capillary aerosol generator comprises a capillary tube adapted to form an aerosol when liquid material in the capillary tube is heated to volatilize at least some of the liquid material therein and a thermally conductive material in thermal contact with the capillary tube. An electrically heated aerosol-generating system for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate includes a heating element including a first electrically conductive element electrically insulated from a second electrically conductive element by an electrically insulating portion. The first and second elements are elongate and are electrically connected to each other by an electrically resistive portion. At least one electrically conductive element and the electrically resistive portion are arranged such that they are at least partially in contact with the aerosol-forming substrate.

Hot drop fastening of coated machine components

A method of hot drop fastening components and a product thereby made is described. Machine components are provided. A first machine component defines a passageway and carries a coating. The first machine component is caused to expand by delivering a predetermined amount of energy to the first machine component, wherein the predetermined amount of energy is based on a property of the coating. A second machine component is inserted into the passageway of the expanded first machine component. Thereafter, the first machine component is permitted to cool with the first machine component inserted in the passageway thereby fastening the first machine component with the second machine component by the first machine component contracting as it cools. Properties such as adhesion and/or rust prevention properties of a primer coating in a motor manufactured using a hot drop process are preserved during the hot drop process in the manufactured product.

Layered heater system having conductive overlays

A method of manufacturing a layered heater includes: applying a dielectric material on a substrate to form a dielectric layer; thermal-spraying a resistive material on the dielectric layer to form a resistive layer on the dielectric layer; forming a plurality of conductive overlays at predetermined locations on the substrate; and forming a plurality of cuts into the resistive layer by laser cutting to form a resistive circuit pattern that overlaps the conductive overlays.

In other atomizers, the wire may extend at least partially through the liquid transport element proximate the contact portions. Related inputs, cartridges, aerosol production assemblies, and methods of forming atomizers are also provided.

A crushable ceramic heater core for an electric heater device which has a cylinder-like body of crushable ceramic material and grooves along the periphery of the body, the grooves being key shaped and adapted to receive a conductive pin in a groove. The invention also includes an electric heater device where such a core has been wound with heater wire and the conductive pin has been inserted in a core groove in contact with the wire, and the wire wound core has been installed in a sheath which has been filled with electoral insulating material. The sheath and its contents are swaged to create a compacted unitary heater assembly. The invention also includes the process for making the wire wound grooved core having a conductive pin therein in contact with the wire winding, and a method for making a heating device having such a core and which has been compacted to a theoretical density. The heater assembly and the method may also include installation of temperature sensing devices.
