Combustion equipment for use in a gas turbine engine is provided. The combustion equipment includes an inner and outer case, wherein the outer case encloses the inner case creating a cavity located between the two cases. The combustion equipment also has a fuel delivery device for delivering fuel into a combustion region within the inner case, wherein the fuel delivery device passes through a hole in the outer case and a corresponding hole in the inner case. The combustion equipment also includes a seal assembly to prevent the leaking of pressurized gas into the cavity located between the outer and inner cases via the hole through which fuel delivery device passes. The seal assembly includes a flexible sleeve that extends around the fuel delivery device and interconnects the inner case with the outer case, permitting relative movement of the inner and outer cases when the combustion equipment is in use.

Oversize bearing retrofit using internal wire lock and installation tool/method for installation
09687974 · 2017-06-27 · ·

A tool for installing a retrofit bearing having a length that extends beyond the original location of a tapered sleeve used to secure an original bearing and a method of performing the installation provide a reliable way to replace an engine bearing that supports and extends within a shaft end. The tool includes a flange with holes matching the engine block, a body coupled to the flange for accepting the captive portion of the replacement bearing, and a tapered sleeve disposed within the tool body for compressing a wire lock engaged with a mating channel of the replacement bearing when the captive portion is in the tool. The tapered sleeve has a diameter that mates with an inside diameter of an end of the engine shaft, so that the wire lock remains compressed until it engages with the channel provided in the engine shaft for the original snap ring.

Method of remanufacturing used cylinder liners and mask and used cylinder liner assembly
09676068 · 2017-06-13 · ·

Remanufacturing a used cylinder liner includes receiving a used cylinder liner having a fillet relieved of residual compressive stress via service in an engine, and compressing a material substrate of the cylinder liner forming a fatigue sensitive fillet, such that a non-uniform profile of the fillet is reshaped via plastic deformation of the material substrate. Residual compressive stress is restored to the fillet at least in part via the plastic deformation. A mask and used cylinder liner assembly for processing the used cylinder liner during remanufacturing is also disclosed.

APPARATUS FOR MODIFYING AN ENGINE OIL COOLING SYSTEM
20170145894 · 2017-05-25 ·

A method of modifying the oil cooling system of a diesel engine includes the steps of removing the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger and installing a manifold having a configuration adapted to match the mounting configuration of the oil passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The manifold has an oil outlet port directed to a remotely mounted oil cooler. The manifold also has a water passage having a configuration that is adapted to match the mounting configuration of the water passages of the original equipment liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger. The water passage causes the entirety of the flow of water to be discharged back to the water cooling system of the engine where it is circulated by the water pump through the water cooling passages in the engine.

PISTON WRIST PIN INSTALLATION TOOL AND METHOD
20170113336 · 2017-04-27 ·

An engine piston wrist pin installation tool, kit and method provide the ability to install a piston in an engine block while the corresponding piston rod is assembled to the crankshaft. The wrist pin aperture is first aligned with an access hole provided on the engine block, which may be performed by using a tapered alignment tool provided in the tool kit. A mounting flange configured for bolting to preformed holes in the engine block is first attached over the access hole, the alignment performed, and a tool including a cylindrical sheath that holds a wrist pin clip compressed and a rod that holds the wrist pin and clip is slid through a locking collar of the flange and secured in place. The rod is then pressed through the sheath to extend the wrist pin and wrist pin clip into the piston until the wrist pin clip snaps into place.

Combustor with tiled liner

A combustor for use in a gas turbine engine and methods for assembling the same are disclosed. The combustor includes an outer case and a combustion liner. The combustion liner is arranged radially inward of the outer case. The combustion liner is arranged to define an annular combustion chamber.

Method and device for mounting piston

A guide rod, which has a diameter expandable tip end portion and restricts the oscillation of a connecting rod and a piston, is inserted into a cylinder bore via an opening adjacent to a crank chamber of the cylinder bore, and the piston is inserted into the cylinder bore via a cylinder head mounting side opening with the connecting rod positioned at a leading end. The diameter of the tip end portion of the guide rod is increased in a hole of a semi-circular arc-shaped end portion positioned at tip end of the connecting rod in the insertion direction, and thus the connecting rod is engaged with the guide rod. The guide rod moves and the connecting rod is pulled into the cylinder bore until the semi-circular arc-shaped end portion of the connecting rod sits on a crankpin of a crankshaft.
