NEBULIZER SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Systems and methods for fluid delivery into a ventilation system are disclosed. In an example, the technology relates to a fluid delivery system for delivery of aerosolized liquid. The fluid delivery system includes an injection tip having a set of orifices configured to aerosolize a liquid having certain properties. The injection tip may be couplable with components of a breathing circuit. For example, the injection tip may be couplable with components at or below a wye component (e.g., at a wye component or between the wye component and a patient), such as at the wye component or at an endotracheal tube multi-port connector. Alternatively, the injection tip may be integrated into a breathing circuit, such as at an endotracheal tube connector or at an endotracheal tube.

Systems for automatically removing fluid from multiple regions of a respiratory tract

Systems and devices for monitoring, detecting, and removing fluid build-up found at various regions along a tracheal tube of an intubated patient. The fluid management system includes pressure and flow sensors for detecting whether there is fluid at the various regions along the tracheal tube, and a means for drawing out the fluid into collection jars. The system also includes lavage features that is able to rinse different the various regions along a tracheal tube. Also disclosed are respiration insertion devices that either couple to existing tracheal tubes or incorporate tracheal tubing, where the respiration insertion body has channels and ports that contact various regions along the tracheal tube. The combination of the fluid management system and the respiration insertion devices effectively monitor and remove fluid at various locations along a tracheal tube of an intubated patient.

A device and method that reduces impingement upon fragile airway structures and improves the performance and safety associated with endotracheal devices and related intubation procedures. Devices, systems, and methods for creating a percutaneous tracheostomy are described herein. In some embodiments, a system can include an inflation assembly and a guidewire assembly. The inflation assembly can include an elongated tube, an inflatable member, and a magnetic member. The elongated tube can have a first end, a second end, and can define a lumen. The inflatable member can be coupled to the first end of the elongated tube and can be fluidically coupled to the lumen such that the inflatable member can receive fluid via the lumen. The magnetic member can be coupled to the first end of the elongated tube. The first end of a guidewire of the guidewire assembly can include a coupling member, the coupling member configured to couple to the inflatable member such that translation of the elongated tube translates the guidewire assembly.

Illumination systems and devices for tracheal tubes

Various embodiments of an intubation system include a tracheal tube and an illumination assembly that is removably couplable to a tubular body of the tracheal tube. The tracheal tube may be a double lumen tracheal tube having a first cuff that is adapted to be inflated to seal against the walls of a patient's trachea and a second cuff that is adapted to be inflated to seal against the walls of the patient's bronchial stem. The illumination assembly may have one or more illumination devices that are adapted to produce light within the patient's trachea, the patient's bronchial stem, or both when the illumination assembly is coupled to the tubular body.

Introducer for Tracheal Tube Intubation

An introducer for tracheal tube intubation has a proximal section connected to a distal section having an angled bougie tip. The introducer is configurable (i) for use as a bougie in which a tracheal tube is railroaded over the introducer's back end and into a trachea and (ii) for use as a stylet in which a tracheal tube is pre-loaded onto the introducer for insertion into a trachea. In certain embodiments, the introducer has one or more flexible or malleable sections that enable the introducer to bend into different configurations. The flexible/malleable sections have directional bending such that the sections bend in roughly the same plane as the angled bougie tip. This enables an operator always to know the orientation of the bougie tip even after it has been inserted into the trachea. The flexible/malleable sections enable the introducer to be configured with a handle or other type of grip.

A method for intubation of a patient comprising: providing an LMA and an endotracheal tube, wherein the endotracheal tube comprises a visualization device and wherein the endotracheal tube is adapted for passing through the LMA; positioning the LMA in the patient; and guiding the endotracheal tube with the aid of the visualization device through the LMA for positioning in the trachea of the patient. The method preferably further comprises removing the LMA from the patient following the positioning of the endotracheal tube while leaving the endotracheal tube in position.

In an exemplary airway device, the device may comprise a mask portion being defined at a distal end of the airway device, and may be configured and dimensioned to be positioned in a hypopharyngeal area of a patient to cover and seal around a glottis of the patient; and a channel portion extending from a proximal end of the airway device to the mask portion. The channel portion may include first and second channels, wherein the second channel may obliquely merge with the first channel proximate to an opening of the first channel. In an exemplary embodiment, a third channel may form a combined pharyngeal-gastric access channel.
