Wind turbine rotor shaft arrangement

A wind turbine rotor shaft arrangement, e.g. of horizontal type, comprising a rotor shaft for supporting wind turbine blades, a non-rotating first housing structure for supporting the rotor shaft, and a first rolling bearing arranged to support, in a first axial direction, the rotor shaft in relation to the first housing structure at a first support point. The first rolling bearing is a single row self-aligning bearing comprising an inner ring, an outer ring, and a set of rolling elements formed of rollers arranged in an intermediate configuration between the inner and outer rings. Each roller is a symmetrical bearing roller having a curved raceway-contacting surface arranged contacting a curved inner raceway of the inner ring and a curved outer raceway of the outer ring. A contact angle between each roller and the inner and/or outer raceway is inclined in relation to the radial direction of the rotor shaft.

A turbine and a turbine-generator device for use in electricity generation. The turbine has a universal design and so may be relatively easily modified for use in connection with generators having a rated power output in the range of 50 KW to 5 MW. Such modifications are achieved, in part, through use of a modular turbine cartridge built up of discrete rotor and stator plates sized for the desired application with turbine brush seals chosen to accommodate radial rotor movements from the supported generator. The cartridge may be installed and removed from the turbine relatively easily for maintenance or rebuilding. The rotor housing is designed to be relatively easily machined to dimensions that meet desired operating parameters.

FLEXIBLE SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR A GEARED ARCHITECTURE GAS TURBINE ENGINE

A gas turbine engine according to an example of the present disclosure includes, among other things, a fan shaft configured to drive a fan, a support configured to support at least a portion of the fan shaft, the support defining a support transverse stiffness and a support lateral stiffness, a gear system coupled to the fan shaft, and a flexible support configured to at least partially support the gear system. The flexible support defines a flexible support transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and a flexible support lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness. The input defines an input transverse stiffness with respect to the support transverse stiffness and an input lateral stiffness with respect to the support lateral stiffness.

MAIN ROTOR BLADE CUFF BOND FIXTURE

A bond fixture including a plurality of supports mounted about a surface. At least one of the plurality of supports includes a vertical member and a hand crank operable to adjust a position of the vertical member. A first fixture is disposed at an end of the bond fixture and is movable relative to the surface. The first fixture includes a base and a support extending from the base. A second fixture includes a first member and a second member movably coupled. A fastener extending between the first member and the second member controls relative movement of the first member and the second member to define an opening there between. Each of the first member and the second member includes a plate having a heater formed therein.

Fan Assembly and Method

In one aspect, a fan assembly is provided that can be manufactured while producing a significantly reduced amount of scrap material. More specifically, the fan assembly utilizes a hub ring and one or more hub strips to support a plurality of blades rather than a solid center disc or end disc used by some prior approaches. In another aspect, a method is provided that includes bending a member into an annular configuration and joining end portions of the member together to rigidly fix the member in the annular configuration. The rigid annular member may be used as an end ring, a hub ring, an orifice, or other component, while producing significantly less scrap material than traditional approaches.

Geared turbine engine with relatively lightweight propulsor module

An example gas turbine engine includes a propulsor assembly including a fan and a fan drive turbine. A weight of the propulsor assembly is less than about 40% of a total weight of the gas turbine engine.

FLEXIBLE SUPPORT STRUCTURE FOR A GEARED ARCHITECTURE GAS TURBINE ENGINE

A gas turbine engine includes a fan shaft that drives a fan that has fan blades. An outer housing surrounds the fan. A bypass flow path is within the outer housing. A fan shaft support that supports the fan shaft defines a fan shaft support transverse stiffness. A gear system is connected to the fan shaft. The gear system includes a gear mesh that defines a gear mesh transverse stiffness. A flexible support which supports the gear system relative to a static structure defines a flexible support transverse stiffness. The flexible support transverse stiffness is less than 11% of the fan shaft support transverse stiffness. The flexible support transverse stiffness is less than 8% of the gear mesh transverse stiffness.

RIM SEAL

A rim seal between a stator and a rotor in a gas turbine engine is described. The seal includes an axial overlap between platform rims of the stator and the rotor. The axial length of the platform rim of one of the stator and the rotor is accommodated within a radially aligned trench defined in the other of the stator and the rotor.
